Title: Mr. Patrick Delices for SIPA’s Director of Alumni Affairs 

Target: SIPA Associate Dean for Communications and External Relations, SIPA Senior Associate Dean, and the SIPA Associate Dean for Development

Preamble: This petition calls for the hiring of Mr. Patrick Delices as SIPA’s new Director of Alumni Affairs. 

Mr. Delices has extensive experience in alumni relations that could greatly enhance SIPA’s alumni efforts. As the chairperson of the Career Committee at the Columbia University Club of New York (CUCNY), a network attracting many Columbia alumni, he has administered the graduate admission panel and reception that featured top MBA schools, and the Career Speed Networking reception. Furthermore, as a member of CUCNY’s Program Committee, Mr. Delices developed and hosted many programs including the Hudson River Cruise, Squash for Kids, United Nations Tour, and a book signing and lecture series featuring Dean Awn, Dean Hubbard, and Prof. Duggan from Columbia University. Additionally, as Treasurer of the Black Alumni Council at Columbia University, he increased membership and revenue by soliciting alumni and potential corporate partners. 

Even beyond his spectacular work experience, Mr. Delices is still very involved with the current SIPA community. Mr. Delices has been an important source of ideas and alumni networks for the student organization SIPA Students of Color in planning for its first alumni reception. Additionally, in his role with CUCNY, Mr. Delices lectured graduating seniors and alumni of Columbia University on the value of becoming a club member, and engaged potential members in a tour of the club. Efforts like these demonstrate Mr. Delices commitment to SIPA, the greater Columbia University, and his ability to bridge the gap between current students and alumni. Furthermore, as a SIPA alumni himself, Mr. Delices is aware of the nuanced strategies required to engage such a diverse and geographically dispersed cohort, and has personal ties with many alumni. 

As SIPA’s Director of Alumni Affairs, the signers of this petition believe that Mr. Patrick Delices will bring experienced and creative insight to SIPA’s alumni initiatives, and is the best person for the job. Mr. Delices’ ongoing relationship with a large network of SIPA alumni and current students proves that he is in touch with all aspects of the SIPA community and will be able to apply this perspective to the role of Director of Alumni Affairs. Mr. Delices is a hard worker who is very dedicated to the work of alumni affairs; SIPA will be lucky to have him.

Petition: We the undersigned support Mr. Patrick Delices as the SIPA’s new Director of Alumni Affairs. Mr. Delices past experience in alumni relations, and existing network of alumni and current SIPA students, allow him an applicable and innovative perspective that SIPA’s alumni program will benefit greatly from.
