Name: Rachel Charrosin on Sep 19, 2006Comments: It's about time people realised that these spaces are about being able to open a car door wide enough to lift a small child or baby carrier out of the car, NOT about being lazy. I would welcome spaces further from the door as long as suitable trolleys were available nearby.Flag

Name: Michelle Kyne on Sep 19, 2006Comments: I have 2 children under 2 and it is very difficult to get them out of the car safely without toddler running off whilst i carry baby even right outside the store. As far as i'm concerned this is more of a disability than some disabled people who are perfectly capable of walking unaided.Flag

Name: E Ward on Sep 19, 2006Comments: Desperately need child spaces for under 5 yrs, its difficult to open doors with 2 toddlers on either side, they're too young to open and close their child seat locks. I have SPD & often I can't walk but the condition does not qualify for a disabled badge, so parking spaces near to shop would be appreciated, but on the other hand for more able people why not have more child spaces further away - particularly if linked by path to storeFlag

Name: Shadow Gilboa-Way on Sep 19, 2006Comments: Parents with young children who are in car seats need more space than people with older children who are capable of getting themselves out of the car. Car doors need space to be opened fully so we can get our children in and out safely without damaging vehicles. I am sick of seeing adults with older children and adults alone using spaces designed for parents and young children and when reported to the store or car park attendant being fobbed off and nothing being done about it. Supermarkets in particular are terrible - they claim the car park is private so there is no law against people parking in those spaces yet they own the car park so can make their own rules and enforce them. I've yet to talk to one manager (and I've approached many on this matter) who has listened to the problem and acted on it.Flag

Name: Ashley Wilkinson on Sep 19, 2006Comments: I have a 10 month old daughter and 9 times out of 10 when I go somewhere whether it be a supermarket or a multi-storey car park I always have a battle finding a space as they are taken up either by people with no kids, people with kids that are obviously in secondary school, or by people sitting in the drivers seat obviously waiting for someone who has just pop into the store. It is sometimes impossible to get my daughter in or out of the car when parked in a "normal" space as people park too closely to the door. Its also dangerous for pushchairs etc as there is not much room for them either!Flag
