Imagine your full-time job is to be a college student athlete. Your daily routine would consist of waking up early in the morning and going to practice. After going to morning practice, you have to attend all of your classes and lectures. Then, since you are most likely failing a few of your classes, you have to attend a tutoring session. Finally, to finish your day off, you have more practice which will likely end late. Unfortunately, college student athletes have to follow this routine throughout the whole school year. With the majority of the time spent towards their sport and studies, college student athletes have no time to find a job. Some of these athletes do not have scholarships to help pay for college. This can lead to an increasing amount of debt because no income is gained to pay for college. Would you not want the college to pay you in some way to compensate for not having a job? College athletes need money to provide for their own family and self. Almost 86 percent of college athletes live below the poverty line (Hayes).
