Being a local resident, I was deeply dissapointed to hear that the building we are all proud of, and that dominates our view from our houses will be turned into yet another mosque. There are 5 other mosques in our area and it makes me wonder why Kirklees would even consider such a proposal when they should be seen to be encouraging diversity in communities. In response to Mr Ahmeds claims in the article on Saturday 1. The Pavillion WAS open to everyone - residents used to work there, it was available to rent to anyone. 2. Maybe the doors will be open to the public, but I dont think that anyone other than a member of the Ahmadiyya group will be going there - Especially not from our communities 3. There most definitley will NOT be a reduction in traffic. The pavillion was previously open at 7pm till late - a time when traffic is not at its peak. Using the building in the day times will almost certainally impact on an already busy Spaines road. Kirklees should take into consideration at the time of making the decision that there have been numerous issues with the pavillion in the past relating to noise disturbances. The worst of these nights, was caused by a party organised to celebrate the end of Eid! In the past 3 weeks since the AMA group purchased the pavillion we have been disturbed by illegal burning of rubbish, noise from dogs barking, and general noise from the carpark. The houses that sorround the pavillion are so close to it, that there will almost certainally be disturbances to residents. I personally feel the best use of the pavillion (being a kirklees owned plot) will be a community centre for use of ALL people, regardless of religeon, race or other...
