The petition

Paul Arizin was the first Villanova basketball player to accumulate 1000 career points. An all-American college player of the year in 1949-50, Arizin cemented his legacy as a Philadelphia-area sports legend in 1956 by leading the Philadelphia Warriors to an NBA title.

The basketball accomplishments are well-known: 85 points in a game as a junior, NBA scoring champion and 10-time all-star, named in 1996 as one of the greatest 50 NBA players of all-time.

Mr. Arizin's place is certainly secure in the basketball record books. But we request that Villanova University consider naming the basketball court inside the Pavilion the Paul Arizin Court to celebrate not only Mr. Arizin's athletic achievements, but also how he lived his life – with faithfulness, humility and integrity - providing a great example for today's students and future generations.

The results of this poll will be shared with Rev. Peter Donohue OSA, president of Villanova University.

If you support our efforts to name the basketball court within the Pavilion after Paul Arizin, please add your signature below, include a comment if you'd like, and then click the 'Sign Petition' button. If you are a Villanova alum, please indicate class year after your name.

Please Note: After you enter your name, email address, and a comment a page will appear asking for a donation to ipetition's website. It is not necessary to donate anything to sign.
