Dear Camp Twin Lakes - The boutique retail community would like to reach out to you concerning Partner's Card - specifically the timing and the new charges that will be assessed if the card is not sold in our stores. Our intentions are to provide our continued support to Camp Twin Lakes. We are, however, asking for more consideration and collaboration from Partner’s Card in order to maximize your ability to provide tuition money for your campers. And, as a community that is making a generous donation to your event, we have some concerns that we would like to be addressed. Our first concern lies with the timing of the event. The majority of the boutiques buy for full priced sales during the month of October and into the week before Thanksgiving. (And, although our models have changed somewhat, most of us still do not break pricing until the weekend after Thanksgiving.) Participating in Partner's Card generally means that sales are stifled the week prior to the event (due to pent up demand for the discount), followed by an entire week of 20% off (that kills margins), and the following week is usually soft due to the demand during the event. We would like for you to take into consideration the fact that your one-week event actually affects sales for three weeks during a traditionally non-sale period. And, feedback from our customers indicated that they didn’t want to “holiday shop” in the now earlier time frame, thus decreasing the demand for Partner’s Card. Furthermore, the cost to participate if you choose not to sell the cards is slightly overreaching and will deter stores from participating. We hope that you will consider our ideas and keep in mind that our community does want to partner with Camp Twin Lakes. However, the timing and costs currently associated with Partner’s Card makes participation extremely difficult.
