I can only see economic development a plus for the city and we have only to look at the results if we question this. In the name of fear and money, let's not shortchange our purpose and missionFlag

Name: ANN WITEK on Mar 11, 2010Comments: I urge you to reconsider the elimination of the position of Director of Economic Development. Kim Uhlig has been an asset to the City of Park Ridge. She is the visible link between business owners and the city. Ms. Uhlig has been a factor in attracting new businesses to the area as well as retention of current businesses. She has also been a factor in attracting government grant money for the development of our town. Park Ridge needs a stronger, friendlier business climate. The citizens need a deeper tax base to help offset the costs of maintaining our current services.Flag

Name: Dick Barton on Mar 11, 2010Comments: The Office of Economic Development is critical to the growth and financial stability of our City. Not only does its Director nicely represent our City to the national marketplace including retail chains and developers but also helps keep our existing businesses in town by working to improve communication between business owners and city government at all levels. It is vital we keep the Director in place under its current form.Flag

Moving forward with economic development initiatives is the best way for our community to thrive. Kim has done an outstanding job for the community.Flag

Given the success that this position has had in the past and the economic challenges we face ahead, I support and sign this petition.Flag

Name: Karen Larsen on Mar 12, 2010Comments: The position of Director of Economic Development is vital to the continued economic health of Park Ridge. Kim has brought grant writing to whole new level creating a stream of revenue that had never before been accessed in Park Ridge. In addition, in these difficult times she demonstrate everyday what Henry Ford once said, "If you think you can, you're right. And if you think you can't, you're right, too." Let's find another way to solve our budget woes.Flag

Name: Fran Hook Hume on Mar 12, 2010Comments: It seems short-sighted to eliminate a revenue-generating position that can help provide a means to allow the City of Park Ridge to continue to fund vital services to its citizens as well as to enhance the quality of life for its citizens.Flag

Name: Susan Frangos on Mar 12, 2010Comments: If we need to cut bloat in our town it should not come from programs that bring IN money. How this proposed budget cut came to the table is puzzling to me. The Economic Development program has served our town well even in these deflated economic times. Come on now a little common sense needs to prevail.Flag

Name: Diane Forsythe on Mar 12, 2010Comments: As a 25 year resident of and 10 year business owner in Park Ridge, I urge you to reconsider your recent proposed elimination of the position of Director, Economic Development in the City's budget cuts. While I fully support a balanced budget, the elimination of a position/person/program that has brought new and enhanced revenue to the City far beyond the expense of said position seems extremely shortsighted.Flag

Name: Susan Calomino on Mar 17, 2010Comments: Any progressive city must have a Dept of Economic Development. In the past 5 years, the Park Ridge Eco Dev Dept has obtained more than $1 million in grant money and assisted in securing more than 40 new retail or restaurant establishments (which has added $5 million in new tax growth). Eliminating this dept would be very short-sighted.Flag
