I would like to rally up signatures of people in and around Pickering that would appreciate an online system, much like Toronto's, wherein you can purchase a parking permit should someone need to park on a street overnight. This would ensure that you or your guest could purchase a spot in a designated area on your street without the hassle of worrying about a $25-$50 parking ticket from the City. The City will still receive a revenue for on-street parking, but the residents of Pickering can have the peace of mind of knowing their family and/or friends can visit and park for more than 3 hours without a fine for doing so. Furthermore, it will help to improve our city's efforts against drinking & driving, wherein we will not have to worry about people driving home intoxicated to save themselves the ticket they would otherwise undoubtedly receive. It would be a compromise to the current bi-law that could benefit everyone.
