AND NO ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THIS FREEDOM AND PRIVILEAGE FROM YOU.AND BESIDES MOST OF THE STUDENTS WOULD NOT WEAR THEM.HOW WOULD THE TEACHERS KEEP TRACK ANYWAY BY HANDING OUT SUSPENSIONS THAT WOULD JUST MAKE THE STAFF AND THE WHOLE SCHOOL ENTIRELY BAD.Flag

Name: Jazmine Copper on Sep 19, 2005State:Country:Comments: Im graduating this year and I feel that if the students didnt wear clothes that were against the drees code then there would be no need to want uniforms. You stated that"WHEREING YOUR OWN CLOTHS IS A FREEDOM HOW YOU DRESS IS A WAY TO EXPRESS YOURSELF AND IF YOU WORE A UNIFORM YOU CANT SHOW HOW U FEEL AND EXPRESS YOURSELF." When you where clothes that you have no businees wearing you lose that freedom. All this talk about expressing yourself cant you express wearing close that are appropriate. While your "expressing yourself" other people may take offense to the clothes your wearing. All this talking about people should stop anyways because it makes kids not want to go to school.I wont have to wear uniforms but I think it would be a good thing. Something has to be done about Parkdale and maybe it should start with uniforms...Flag

Name: Margaret Thatcher on Sep 21, 2005State:Country: USComments: To Whom It May Concern: Have we lost focus of why schools exist They are for the primary purpose of Educating and Learning. This is not a Fashion Agency. Clearly after grasping the benefit of the teachers skills will enable the writer of this petition to improve and better their grammar and writing skills. That's where my concern lies. Barring the fact that all children cannot afford to wear the latest fashion and this can cause unnecessary conflict especially with the history of violence attached to stealing, beating and robbing children of their personal clothings. Uniforms establishes a level playing field. And High School Students have enough challenges of inequality when entering colleges and the workforce, they do not need the additional stress in school. I say the uniforms are an excellent idea and there is a certain amount of conduct attached to wearing a uniform - the representation of a group, organization or in this case a school - liken this to a police officer, the expectation and conduct when in uniform is high. The same will be expected from a Parkdale Student. Consider what your future holds, we have enough ordinary people, lets strive for extraordinary excellence in education.Flag

Name: Wodia Tarawali on Sep 23, 2005State:Country:Comments: I also agree with this position. I feel as though parents should be able to control what their children wear to school everyday, we do not have any naked young women, or men in your school. Giving us uniforms would be completely childish, I do not believe that we are grown but we do have the right to wear what we want as long as we are not breaking the school dress code.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 8, 2006State: MDCountry: USComments: I think we should not have to wear uniforms because is a time period in young adults life where they can discover themselves and know who they are and what their future holds for them. By us wearing uniforms were not going to discover that, when it seems from appearance or first impression that everyone has the same identity. From a freshmen whose not trying to spend the rest of her high school years wearing uniforms.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 22, 2006State:Country:Comments: I think that there should be a uniform code through out the county to proctect students from forms of violence caused by the lack of clothing or the clothing that is "in". I also believe that the person that wrote this petition is a prime example of why uniforms are necessary, students need to focus on school work and not other things such as clothing. There are so many spelling and grammatical mistakes in this petition that is doesn't make sense! Haveing= having, Whereing= wearing, cloths= clothes, nothin=nothing, just to name a few.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 22, 2006State:Country:Comments: To whom it may concern: I can thoruoghly understand what the students' concern is, but the actual comments posted by these students are the primary reason why uniforms should be put in place. I feel as if proper english, grammar, and any other school related subjects are being ignored in your district; yet uniforms are the primary subject of conversation. Not to bash anyone, but to "draw up" a petition is one thing, but to "make" one preposterous. If one is trying to seriously draw up a petition, one needs to make sure that the words on paper are intelligible, as well as understandable by ALL. Reading this petition honestly made me quiver to think that this was my future writing. We as the older generation need to better teach our future, and to the younger generation, you need to not worry about the latest social craze. Here is some food for thought: Clothes can be taken away; however, your education cannot.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 18, 2006State:Country:Comments: I agree with the fact that we do need "freedom of expression" but if clothes are the only way to "express yourself" then the uniforms are probably a good idea, considering you can "broaden your horizons" also, I do NOT agree with people saying that uniforms will make the students seem more civilized. Well, you obviously don't know Parkdale. Parkdale is going to be a trashy, ghetto school no matter what any student is wearing. Uniforms aren't going to help this situation. There are still going to be students who never come to class. There are still going to be pregnant girls. There are still going to be people out back smoking weed. Nothing is going to change except for the fact that we will all be wearing the same thing. Another thing, people are talking about how they can not afford the uniforms, and yes, I agree that the uniforms are a bit costly, however, the same people complaining, are the same ones with the "hottest" cell phone, or the "tightest" shoes. Compared to the ridiculous amounts of money that you people pay for your clothes, these uniforms are just pocket change. I'm not saying that I WANT to wear the uniforms, but IFlag

Name: Carlitea Floyd on Sep 6, 2006State: MDCountry: USComments: Hello. I do not go to Parkdale High School but I was a former student there. I graduated in 2006 and as soon as I graduated the school was permitted to wear uniforms. To me, wearing a uniform is not the answer to misbehavior and child disruption. Actually, making a child wear a uniform will make matters worse because they already don't want to wear the uniform and since they have to wear it they will act even worse. How I see it, clothes don't make the person, the person makes the person. So if anybody thinks that by making young children wear a uniform is going to change the way they are, YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!Flag
