Comments: John White has a natural right to protect himself and his family on his own property. No person should be punished for exercising his/her natural rights. An executive pardon by Governor Patterson would be a noble act and a great legacy to leave behind. I urge the Governor to take a stand for justice in this case and go down in history as a man for all seasons.

Comments: Governor Paterson, This is your chance to make history and do what is right. Before you leave office you have the power to pardon John white who faces jail simply because he defended his family against a racist mob. You also have the power to pardon the many thousands of African Americans who are languishing in New York State prisons, deprived of their consititional rights and wrongfully imprisoned.. You can go down in history as the Great Emancipator.

Comments: I am a 33 yr old male who comes from a bi-racial home. As you can understand my views concerning this case I strongly agree that Mr White should receive a full pardon. Him and his family was threatened by a MOB of individualls who descended on his home with the intentions of inflicting bodily harm to him and his family, Abd as such he had every right to defend his family from the Mob who had descended upon his home. Had this been a WHITE man who's family was threatened by a MOB of BLACK people this case would have never even went to trial. He would have been foundy NOT GUILTY by the grand jury and the case closed. So why is it that still in the "21st" Century do we still have these disparages between people of color and people not of color! I have gotten into many arguments with past co-workers in regards to this case mainly due to the fact that although I am bi-racial I would appear to be Caucasian and people cant seem to understand why I think he should not go to jail for what he did. People just assume that because I am "White" I should not be on Mr White's side in this case.

Comments: This is a case of injustice once again smack in our faces. I’ve been raising awareness of the John White case since it happened in the summer of ’06. Now it’s time for us to take action. John White had to turn himself in to prison yesterday to serve a sentence that was unjustifiably given by a system that still is STILL tilted away from justice.

Comments: This case represents, for me, another clear example that "justice" isn't color blind and that it favors wealthy whites. However, the main objective now should be to put maximum pressure on government officials to redress these outrages. In particular, its time we start punishing weak, opportunistic, do-nothing Black politicians. Where are their voices in this case?

Comments: Sentencing John White to prison is a true travesty of justice. Just like Martin Tankleff the entire investigation and prosecution was handled inapporpriately and with total bias. Had John White shot another black person the entire case would have been handled differently. Furthermore, how could the entire vigilanty group of drunk,out-of-control disorderly teens not have been charged in any way shape or form? Why were the adults who served the teens the liquor not charged? Why were the drunk, disorderly, out-of-control teens considered rteliable eye witnesses and John White's family members not given the same consideration? What happened that night was a true tragedy. However, even Dniel Cicciaro's mother has stated that he should not have been there and should not have been drinking. At the most John White should have been sentenced to some community service, DEFINITELY NOT PRISON!!!

Comments: There's a double standard at play here that is extremely obvious and wrong. A cop shoots a man that raises his voice and he is acquitted but when a citizen stands up for himself and his family at his home he is railroaded! Its blatantly ignorant and immoral. It's a bias delusional mindset that is at the root of racism, sexism and crony-ism. I just pray this petition lands in the hands of someone who transends this barbaric mindset.
