Petition Background (Preamble):

This petition calls for the support and unmistakable resounding American Voice for President Obama to call for an official review of Corporal Loren Duke Abdalla USMC actions under fire on May 5, 1945. This review to take into consideration that Duke was passed over because of his heritage as a Native American Sioux Indian whether with conscious thought or the inherent subconscious thought at this time in American History, We The People now have this last chance to right this wrong and to set the record right and straight for America’s future generations.

By signing this Support Petition for Presidential Review of Corporal Loren Duke Abdalla USMC actions under fire May 5, 1945, for consideration of the Congressional Medal of Honor you are expressing your support for this Presidential Review. May this also serve to bring this Great Nation back together as a family, for we are not African-Americans, White Americans, Hispanic Americans, nor Native Americans, or any other race or cultural divide. We are one Family, The American Family! One “Great Nation under GOD!”

Supporting Duke will also go a long way in bringing this known American feeling back to the fore front, in the hearts of every American citizen, where it belongs and should stay.

We are not a separated Hodge Podge of people fighting for whom gets preferred treatment but we really and truly are One Nation of like-minded freedom and liberty- loving individuals, living together as One Family.

We, the undersigned, feel that it is way past due for a Presidential Review of Corporal Loren Duke Abdalla USMC actions under fire May 5, 1945. We further feel that after 70 years, the effect that the battles had on Duke’s life, and the fact that he has only started talking about his war experiences in the last few years, is what originally led to cause this situation of only finding one witness still alive to testify to Duke’s deed of that day.

This witness has just recently died, now leaving Duke the last survivor of his elite U.S. Marine Corps Unit.

Duke’s life was one of great sacrifice during and after the war. The loss of his family because of his issue with PTSD, which was still in its infancy, as far as the known effects and treatment. After losing the love of his life Duke never married again.

We would also like to point out that Duke has not said a swear word since his Grandfather punished him for saying one when he was 5 years of age. He overcame his nightmares and loneliness to become an asset to his community and someone to honor as a role model to our younger generations. Duke’s legacy has more than made up for any objections that could exist for this most important consideration by the President of the United States of America.

Referring to pages 202-204 in the book “Stand like a Man” “The Story of Duke the Indian” that states all the recognition thus far, from city, county, state, House of Rep. and U.S. Senate and Speaker of the House, John Boehner with a "Memorial presented to the

Committee on Armed Services". Now it is time for the Executive Department to review Cpl. Loren Duke Abdalla's Service to his beloved country, on May 5, 1945.

We believe that Corporal Loren Duke Abdalla's, known as "The Indian" during WWII, service on May 5, 1945, now has earned the right to request a Presidential Review, and that Our President then, as Commander-in-Chief, will award Duke for the “Acts of Bravery”, that were shown, and as he sees fit.
