Name: Anonymous on Jan 25, 2013Comments: It is extremely unrealistic and certainly unfair to expect Potton to sustain a further gypsy site. There is already more trouble than can be easily and successfully dealt with from the existing site. An unknown travelling fraternity would cause more friction with the existing families as it is known they cannot always co-exist.Flag

This is just another example of Central Beds and its councillor's being completly out of touch with the people tha have to live in this town.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 25, 2013Comments: We moved into Potton for a peaceful rural community. There is already one site here why should we suffer more!! They have no respect for our community and to be frank as high tax payers we do not see why we should pay for those who do do not pay their way and abuse their surroundings, millions is invested by the council to improve their way of living yet genuine people are left at the bottom of the list because of beurocracy. enough is enough!!!!!. Children are frightened and cannot play in Potton without fear of being beaten up. There is no Police support because of the cuts and to be honest the Police appear to be scared of entering a site except in large numbers which is impossible at present, and I don't blame them!!!! They leave mess, disruption and disrespect everywhere they go. There is a high rate of crime (co-op, tescos the chemist and garage all turned over) many return to prison because it is nicer than their site (isolation involves taking their play station away!!!!) Why should a wonderful community that has already intergrated our over growing society be ruined. We also need to respect our wildlife and rural surroundings instead of filling it with caravans!!!!!!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 25, 2013Comments: How could they possibly consider putting more sites here when they are planning to build over one hundred houses near the garage. Talk about ruin a lovley community and rural surroundings. If the council go ahead I am moving and I am sure others will be,lower priced houses and less committed people in community. I am sick of working every day over 40 hours a week to support those who disrespect society. The government and councils need to wake up and listen to the majority of society who pay their wages , keep tham in a plush lifestyle and house. Perhaps they would like 2/3 sites on their doorstepFlag

Name: Mark on Jan 26, 2013Comments: The existing site in Potton has plenty of space. Not many people in the settled community, as we are called, have space to prepare cars for ram raids, or conceal a lorry involved in the death of a pedestrian. Cllrs need to be told - let this happen and I will vote against youFlag

Name: Adrian Jones on Jan 26, 2013Comments: If more Traveller sites are set up in or around Potton me and my family are moving out of the area. We would rather pay our Council Tax to a Council that supports its residents. I am not going to risk the well being or safety of my family.Flag

Name: James Howarth on Jan 26, 2013Comments: I completely agree. The Potton infrastructure is not capable of supporting any more residents of any kind traveller or not. Have you tried to get a same day appointment at the Doctors recently? Have you seen a police person after 5pm? Why is it Beds Council believe that Potton should support 2 or more sites when other towns have none? Why is it we in the east of the country have 24% of all travellers and Wales has none at all? Enough is enough.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 26, 2013Comments: Part of the Governments stated planning strategy is for local people to have much more say in development plans for their area. This planning committee has already ridden roughshod over this with the proposed lage scale housing development on Biggleswade Road against the wishes of the Town Council representing the residents of Potton. Even a cursory inspection of the map of proposed sites shows a hugely disproportionate number in and around Potton and surrounding towns and villages. Surely it is time this planning committee takes account of local feelings in their proposals.Flag
