I am a lifelong Republican and am ashamed at the direction of my Party. The Current Republican Leader, Michael Steele, says the right things but often supports non Conservative candidates just to get someone elected with an "R" after his or her name.

The recent election in  New York's 23rd District where the Republicans supported a candidate more liberal than the Democrat while sabotaging the Conservative Candidate is a case in point. Likewise, President Bush proved himself unworthy of the Conservative label which became more and more apparent his second term. His bailout of the banks helped bring us the Obama disaster.

I have quit donating to the Republicans because they talk one way when they want money and another way when they run our country into the ground, albeit more slowly than the Democrats. They have been good to stand up against the power-grabbing Democrats on the Health Care issue, but I feel in the long run they do more harm than good. I miss the Republican Party that stood for Conservative Values in the past. The Party of Lincoln and of Ronald Reagan was one I could be proud of.

I have felt emboldened since Sarah Palin ran for Vice President with John McCain who I was ashamed of. I have also felt emboldened with the whole Tea Party movement and with Glenn Beck's 9/11 Project, and with Rush Limbaugh and most of the Conservative Talk Radio commentators, and with FOX NEWS TV.

I would donate to the Republicans again if Sarah Palin (A CONSERVATIVE I CAN TRUST) were running the Republican Party. I would favor her leading the Republican Party and defeating the Democrats this November with candidates who are true patriots. She can step down after that if she decides to run for President of the United States.
