Name: Pat And Kristen Noonan on Apr 29, 2008Comments: A few of us were talking about this today. I understand that the national PTa is changing to healthier food choices, which donuts would not be. Gina Streepy was telling me about doing bagels, but they are more expensive. I am sure people wouldn't mind putting in a few dollars to offset the cost. Just an opinion, but I would hate to see this activity stopped!Flag

Name: Kim Stadler on Apr 29, 2008Comments: My kids were really upset that this was being discontinued. They really enjoy having their parents come and spend a part of the morning with them once a year. I do understand the concerns about obesity and the need to provide healthy snacks for our children, but I think we also need to teach our children to assess when something is a special event and when something is a mindless decision to eat junk on a regular basis. I think we would be much better served to clean up our school lunch choices of nachos, chicken nuggets, ice cream, cookies, cupcakes, etc. These are the real dangers - the daily intake of junk - not the once or twice a year special treats at holiday parties or a moms and munchies/dads and donuts day. Even adults and teachers get to enjoy an occasional treat to celebrate special events such as teacher appreciation week or the room parent meeting at the beginning of the year, why can't the kids Again, the key word is "special."Flag

Name: Karen Brock on Apr 29, 2008Comments: My kids love these events (especially moms n munchies) and these are events that working parents can attend. Let's look for healthy alternatives and if those are cost prohibitive, I believe families would be willing to pay.Flag

It starts the year off on such a positive note. AND it made the PTA money last year. Have you ever heard of TRADITION!!!Flag

Name: Tom Johanson on Apr 30, 2008Comments: My children and I have enjoyed for the past 10 years the opportunity to visit the school for Dads and Donuts. It has provided a fun time to visit the school and meet their teachers, classmates and other Dads. I would encourage you to re-think the decision to cancel these events since it is just one way to promote involvement of parents and child at school. Thanks, Tom JohansonFlag

Name: Mary Hancock on Apr 30, 2008Comments: I think that we should continue to have Moms/Munchies and Dad's.Donuts. Being divorced this is a wonderful opportunity for my son's father to be involved. Not to mention it is probably one of your best turn outs. Obviously, people can't be too concerned with the health aspect of this function or we would not have the turn out that we do. It is also good for the school because of the book fair.Flag

Name: Irene Isoda on May 5, 2008Comments: Moms and munchies and Dads and donuts are two events my children and I look forward to each year. It's fun for them to have us come to school with them. In addition to this it also helps bring parents in to buy books at the book fair. I don't understand why you want to take this oppurtunity away from the kids and also from the bookfair committee.Flag
