Name: Jill Flanagan on Jun 13, 2007Comments: My 9 year old niece attended Pacifica Charter School for K, 1st & 2nd grades, leaving only to move out of the area. The learning and experiences she had at Pacifica, esp in the areas of peace and non-violence, will serve her in the most positive sense the rest of her life. She sailed through further testing done in her new 3rd grade and has already called on the learning - and non violent confrontational skills to monitor conflict not only within her group of 3rd graders, but within her school as a whole. Please allow Pacifica to grow beyond the First Five by renewing the charter. It will be a service to the community - and attending kids, both. Thanks for your time.Flag

Name: Hal Bogotch on Jun 14, 2007Comments: Although there are many charter schools, relatively few in fact offer an alternative vision of education, the way Pacifica Community Charter School does. Quite a few charter schools are based on traditional philosophies. I believe it is essential to have schools like Pacifica available, so that the range of choices for parents is greater.Flag

Name: Nancy Fitts on Jun 15, 2007Comments: I do not currently have a child enrolled in Pacifica Community Charter School, but I have had the opportunity to attend two of their parent workshops that they have opened up to the community at large. I strongly support what they are trying to accomplish. I am encouraged that there is a public school in the Los Angeles area that welcomes parent participation, actively seeks to improve family dynamics through parent education programs and is based on an inherent respect for the individual student. I believe that Pacifica Community Charter School can nurture a childFlag

He has developed into a deep and curious learner--regarding both the outer world as well as his inner world. Please support the charter renewal for this very special school, where the three R's are entwined with peaceful conflict resolution and a compassionate respect for the individual child.Flag

Also, the strong mentor relationships that develop between teachers and students is very CALMING and CENTERING for adolescents going through puberty. We LOVE this school.Flag

I am still advocating for educational diversity. Both charter and public schools provide opportunities that meet the varied learning styles of our children. The miracle of students are the outcomes they demonstrate as adults as a result of the mentors and teachers who inspire them during their school years. Be a facilitator of that miracle by ensuring that Pacifica Charter School is here to stay!Flag

Name: Joel R. Maliniak on Jun 26, 2007Comments: Pacifica is a special breed of school that is full of discovery and non-conformity, not full of itself. In today's environment of assembly-line education, here is a school that is clearly geared towards accepting and respecting each child's individual beauty and uniqueness. It should be prized, not punished for the palpable passion of its deciated educators and staff. My deepest apologies for the TV-business analogy, but Pacifica is like the rare quality show that needs the chance to continue so it may flourish; cancelling its run now would be premature and demonstrate a lack of vision. Why not be visionaries Is Pacifica untradtional Definitely so. Is Pacifica underachieving Definitely not. Respectfully, Joel R. MaliniakFlag
