Name: Patti Worley on Jun 10, 2007Comments: I have seen the response of children to the program at Pacifica Community Charter School. The difference, as compared to my children's and my nieces' and nephews' experience in preschool and primary grades is remarkable. I don't know what the differences in the programs are, but the effect on the children is invaluable. LA schools should have more programs of this quality!Flag

Name: MarySue Lindsay on Jun 11, 2007Comments: I have worked in the field of education for 25 years as a Teacher, Counselor and a Principal! Pacifica is one of the few schools that actually has students actively involved in their learning! They do NOT "teach to the middle" like so many schools! They really know their students and are truly developmental! I've seen them in action!Flag

Name: Cristina Trevizo on Jun 11, 2007Comments: Please renew Pacifica Community Charter School. As a parent and an educator I CHOOSE Pacifica. Please give us the opportunity to work together with LAUSD in keeping our school open. The parents and children from the community of Glassell Park need to have the opportunity to choose a school like Pacifica where there is constructivist, project based learning, diversity that opens up intercultural dialogue, real parent participation, and non violent communication and parent education. There is no other public school that I know of in my community that offers what Pacifica offers, and my children have the right to attend such a school - please allow them that opportiunity. Thank you. Gabriel, Cristina, Esther, Gabe and Joshua TrevizoFlag

He is in the midst of final exams, otherwise we would be in attendance at the June 12 afternoon hearing, fully in support of the renewal of Pacifica Community Charter School's charter. That school clearly meets or exceeds any published standards of LAUSD we have seen regarding evaluating charter school performance.Flag

Name: Noah Rosenberg on Jun 12, 2007Comments: Alternative education is an integral part of the scholastic opportunities afforded children in Los Angeles County. Removing such an option would diminish the diversity of educational offerings within the region. Furthermore, elimination of the school would only increase strain on the already ailing LAUSD schools. Children--not bureaucratically imposed deadlines--should be our foremost priority. I support renewal of Pacifica's charter because I support young people, the future of Los Angeles.Flag
