Why not base your closures on something that makes sense, rather than shutting down a successful school with tons of potential and opportunity for students and a hard working and caring staffFlag

Name: Nitin Lal on Jan 10, 2007Comments: This school is serving our community in such a valuable manner that benefits the entire neighborhooh. Having pre-school, bilingual classes for both childre and adults, cultural activities, special ed. classes, involved with Romnowski park one of the kind in Detroit, after school Gym. activity, teaching different languages, involving parents to boost their self esteem, etc. are some of the things to mention. If we close this school students will go to near by charter school. so closing O.W. Holmes means loose-loose situation for DPS. Do not close this school for the sake of community, children and even for DPS>Flag

Name: Kelly Forster on Jan 10, 2007Comments: O.W. Holmes serves this neighborhood and the surrounding community by providing parents the opportunity to interact with each other within the school through parent classes and meetings. This leads to building friendships and a much stronger community. Parents partnered with O.W. Holmes and the Greening of Detroit to develop an amazing park and several working community gardens. This has improved the environment in this community tremendously. It would be a shame to see this come to an end.Flag
