As shown on record there are 4285 students currently enrolled in classes this semester. This generates roughly 214,250$ in parking fees alone. Therein if our school is able to generate this much money from our 50$ contribution found in our tuition, why do we pay an additional 10$ for a physical parking sticker and receive flakey on site shuttle services. Listed below are our student fees and a description of how our students view the shuttle service. Attached is a copy of the official shuttle schedule for your interpretation. Tuition NYS RESIDENT NON NYS RESIDENT Full time (12+ credits) $2785.00 $7410.00 Part-time (per credit) $232.00 $618.00 College Fee Full time (12+ credits) $12.50 $12.50 Part-time (per credit) $.85 $.85 Student Activity Fee Full time (12+ credits) $72.50 $72.50 Part-time $47.00 $47.00 Intercollegiate Athletic Fee Full time (12+ credits) $152.00 $152.00 Part-time $76.00 $76.00 Health Service Fee Full time (12+ credits) $110.00 $110.00 Part-time (per credit) $9.50 $9.50 Technology Fee Full time (12+credits) $130.00 $130.00 Part-time (per credit) $10.50 $10.50 *Transportation Fee *Full time (12+credits) $50.00 $50.00 *Part-time (per credit) $25.00 $25.00 In the morning the first shuttle leaves from the gate at 7:50 am, but the campus shuttle does not start it runs until 8:00 am. The on campus shuttle that runs to the front gate only runs every hour so you could be waiting up to forty minutes until the next one arrives. Furthermore if you are trying to reach the LIRR to get off campus in the afternoon you are more likely than not to run into trouble catching your train. Then at 1:05 pm the shuttle makes its same scheduled runs until 3:45 pm. As one SGA member told me, the buses are very unreliable and unsafe due to an overloaded capacity of students. Furthermore with the large amount of revenue generated by our fees, why is it that our school can only provide us with a limited amount of busses. Now can anyone explain as to why each student must pay an extra ten dollars for a “Physical”parking sticker? On top of that our campus may argue that our fifty dollars goes towards our “On-campus” transportation system that as examined, is completely unreliable and poorly managed. With your signature, you as well as your fellow students are bringing to the attention of our college the troubles we face and the change we desire. Our Goals: 1. The elimination of a 10$ fee for a parking sticker; we would like one to be mailed to every student at the beginning of the semester once their bills have been paid 2. A review of the schools shuttle system and a change in way it functions as a whole. We as students would like to see more shuttles available and a more reliable time schedule to be instituted by our institution to better accommodate our student population.
