**The ideas presented in this petition are not solely the creator's. They are ideas that have been floating around and talked about for days amongst the Steam community. All the creator has done is summarized them into a petition.**

As many are aware, Valve has recently added a new feature to Steam that requires users to enter / click a captcha in order to send and receive trade offers. While this was added as a security measure to help protect users from malicious programs that forcefully steal Steam items, it has seemed to cause more harm than good. Trading bots can no longer function properly through trade offers, some users have issues seeing / entering the captchas, and on top of this, it is clear that various viruses have already adapted and found ways around this security measure.

As such, we are proposing that this system be invalidated and replaced with a newer, more secure system. Instead of users having to enter a captcha, it would instead make more sense to enter a user created PIN that can serve the same purpose as the captcha, but with added benefits.

What are these benefits?
- The user will always know what they have to type in
- This is more secure than having a captcha which can be easily cracked via algorithms
- Users cannot be forced to trade items as the virus will not know what their PIN is
- Bots can be programmed to utilize their own PIN and continue sending / receiving trade offers
- Users will be able to enable / disable this feature at their own leisure

Over all, this update that Valve has pushed is one that has brought about many responses. It shows that Valve does care for their users and tries to protect them, but it also shows their lack of communications between themselves and the community they are trying to protect. If you would like to get this changed and support the ideas presented above, go ahead and sign. We will show Valve that we not only are upset with this update, but that we also have a better way to do it.
