The council finally backed down and confirmed they are halting the privatization plans. My head is spinning from the fatigue of this fight but I am deeply grateful you stuck by me. Keep watching them closely because we proved that staying loud actually works.

about that plan to privatise Edinburgh Council's services -
“DO NOTHING TIL YOU HEAR FROM ME”
EDINBURGH PRIVATISATION PLANS – ASK THE PUBLIC! !!
YOU are rushing ahead with a plan to privatise three massive swathes of the Council's services – housing benefit, street cleansing, customer services, council tax collection and many others. Yet in your election manifesto you promised not to do this!
WE are very worried that this will have seriously bad consequences for Edinburgh's services and for the city. We fear that the private contractors will do just what private contractors often do – take us for a ride and rip us off. Just look at the trams!
YOU haven't consulted the public! Nor assessed the possible impacts on inequalities, the disabled, or the environment. Isn't consultation something you believe Councils ought to do?
WE are calling on you to halt the rush to privatisation until you've consulted the public.
NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US!

The momentum behind this is heavier than I ever anticipated. It is exhausting to keep pushing against a brick wall but seeing this level of backing reminds me why we cannot let them walk all over our city services.

Listen to the people for once!! The city belongs to us not the private companies.
Ridiculous idea. We pay our council tax for a reason. Leave it alone.
So fed up with this stuff. Hands off our Edinburgh.
Keep our services public. Edinburgh is not for sale to the highest bidder.
Privatisation only means worse service and higher costs for everyone. Terrible, short-sighted plan.
