Dear Cllr Dawe,


 about that plan to privatise Edinburgh Council's services -


“DO NOTHING TIL YOU HEAR FROM ME”


 EDINBURGH PRIVATISATION PLANS – ASK THE PUBLIC! !!


 YOU are rushing ahead with a plan to privatise three massive swathes of the Council's services – housing benefit, street cleansing, customer services, council tax collection and many others. Yet in your election manifesto you promised not to do this!


WE are very worried that this will have seriously bad consequences for Edinburgh's services and for the city. We fear that the private contractors will do just what private contractors often do – take us for a ride and rip us off. Just look at the trams!


YOU haven't consulted the public! Nor assessed the possible impacts on inequalities, the disabled, or the environment.  Isn't consultation something you believe Councils ought to do?


WE are calling on you to halt the rush to privatisation until you've consulted the public.
