With the closing of the casino at Sudbury Downs, the City of Sudbury has been approached to open a casino in the City-proper. A small local group has taken up arms against another casino, claiming everything from protection of seniors to lack of moral compass to those who frequent it. Taking into account the profits made by the current host, Chelmsford and the unargued benefit the horse racing community had from the casino, as well as the loss of jobs and hence City revenue with the pending closure, it is a loss that will be far reaching in our community. This can be avoided by the reopening of the facility in the City of Sudbury itself.
Moreso, and most importantly, it is being implied by this group that the citizens of Sudbury are not capable of decision making when it comes to our own finances and industry and it is for this reason, we ask that you sign this petition.
By signing this petition, you are stating that you are in opposition to having decisions regarding revenue and employment decided by "faith leaders" and the moral majority and ask City Council to consider this your request to negate any petitions which claim to be speaking on behalf of the City of Sudbury et al with regard to the matter at hand.
