There is no need to get 3 bags for 4 items at some of our "big box" retail outlets. It is estimated that in 2007, Floridians alone used 5 billion plastic and paper bags. It is doing more harm to the environment to create these bags than the bags themselves cause i.e. death to marine wildlife and birds and problems in landfills. They make "green" reusable bags for a reason. If you want to carry your items home, bring a reusable bag or PAY for a plastic bag at the store. Paying for a plastic bag to carry your newly purchased items home is not a "tax", it is a privilege. You cannot go into a store and walk out with a soda. You pay for the soda. There is no "soda tax". Do your part and carry your own bags and do away with the carousels of thousands of bags at retailers.
