Opposition to Speculative Development in Weedon

We the undersigned residents of Weedon and surrounding areas wish to register our opposition to the development of a large residential area on land off New Street in Weedon. We call on the decision makers to reject the building of such an excessive development in the view of overwhelming local opposition.

Discussion

  • Terry Cox This is an ill conceived proposal with clearly no consideration for the effect on the existing community or impact on an already strained infrastructure. Its motivation can only be to line the pockets of the land owner and developer.

  • Ian deSouza The proposition of a residential development of this size in this location practically and technically flawed. The road network in the heart of the village struggles to cope with the current volume particularly over the single lane bridge at the main access to the major junction of the A5/A45 and as a consequence in areas is already dangerous. Coupled to this the school is at capacity even following recent building works.
The position of the site and number of proposed properties cannot be accommodated within the infrastructure of the village.

  • Janet Coe More SEWAGE? No Thanks!
    More TRAFFIC? No Thanks!
    More FLOODING? No Thanks!
    Bigger SCHOOL? No Room!
    EMPTY PROPERTY? Why?
    PARK AT THE SURGERY? Where?

1 month ago Comments: Today I went to look at a little house on New Croft which I was about to put in an offer for when I spotted a neighbour and asked about the area. I was stunned to hear about the development that would destroy the beautiful countryside at the rear of the property. Needless to say I have changed my mind. I feel sorry for residents whose house prices will plummet when they lose the surrounding countryside to a modern housing development.

2 months ago Comments: The village has to grow, this is something I truly believe, however it needs to be in areas which will not push, already over loaded streets. With the bypass plans in place surely there are areas on the outskirts of the village that can be infilled next to the A45/A5

3 months ago Comments: Like others, I am concerned about increased traffic in the village, which is already bottle necked at times in the centre. Increased demand on services is another worry; we have fluctuating water pressure on a regular basis already and increased pressure on the sewage infrastructure would also be a concern.
