Name: Hayes Greenfield on Jul 9, 2010Comments: It is truly remarkable how the quality of my life has changed for the worse because of the Sin Sin / Leopard Lounge on my street. The amount of noise, fighting and yelling in the street, and sheer disruptive behavior coming from their patrons from 12 AM till closing at 4 AM is beyond me. I have lived on this block since 1985 and am not at all opposed to respectable establishments that look out for their neighbors in a way where we can all co-exist. In this case, Sin Sin / Leopard Lounge has continually done nothing to protect the community and should be shut down plain and simple. It is a sad state of reality that a petition like this be necessary to begin with.Flag

Name: Kathryn Feldman, Owner Of 230 East 5th And Resident For 40 Years on Jul 9, 2010Comments: In a neighborhood infamous for the number of bars, Sin Sin is surely one of the worst. I join my neighbors in asking the SLA to withhold a transfer of their liquor license and, in fact, to hold them responsible to all the trouble they have caused the long-suffering residents of 5th Street ever since they opened.Flag

While I generally like the way the neighborhood has grown, I don't see Sin Sin as helping the situation. The crowd it draws, and the managements lack of concern are a detriment to the neighborhood.Flag

Name: Anne Maguire on Jul 9, 2010Comments: I live directly across from Sin Sin and it's been a nightmare since it opened. The noise is atrocious and seems to go on into all hours of the morning, every night, not just at weekends. 5th Street has enough bars never mind 2nd Avenue; every where I looked it seems like every second or third location is a bar. I am very much opposed to any renewal of Sin Sin's license and sick of calling 311 which is now a total waste of time. There are still many older residents living in my building and they, most especially, should be treated with respect that is their due for the years they have spent living in a neighborhood that was not trendy when they started their lives in the East Village. It's outrageous what little respect they have been show never mind us blow-ins who have been around for about 20 years. I say enough to the Frat House mentality that has taken over our street and homes and show some respect for the working people who made the neighborhood when it wasn't fashionable.Flag

I have not been able to sleep through the night for years now. Please, I need to get my health back. I am been recovering from a double heart by-pass. I need my rest and I don't need anymore sleep interrupted nights.Flag

Name: Lydia Saltzman on Jul 9, 2010Comments: East 5th Street residents deserve a good nights sleep. The proliferation bars packed full of loud patrons is felt thu the entire street. We are subject to drunk and stoned people all night long. I feel for the folk directly over and across the street. The lack of sleep is a health hazard to those of us who work regular hours.Flag

The club is a scourge on the neighborhood-- we have had to call 911 countless times late at night because of fights breaking out or drunken clubgoers passed out on our doorstep.Flag

Name: Ruth Josimovich on Jul 9, 2010Comments: Night after night I am woken up by the loud and unruly patrons and music coming from Sin Sin. They are a tough crowd, and often have fights with each other in the early morning hours, as well as starting fights in the middle of the street with patrons leaving the other loud bars on 2d Ave (Kabin & Lit Loung, especially). When they spill out onto the street against the light, that causes traffic to stop, cars to honk at them. In addition to the regular total inconsideration of the community, there are two other legal issues: Sin Sin not infrequently (esp. on Friday and Sat. nights) runs illegal after-hours serving, as you can witness really drunk/high lowlife leave the bar between 7 and 8 a.m. the next morning; there is clearly drug-dealing activity going on, as the patrons are not just drunk. the only good thing I can say about SinSin is that, unlike the other offensive bars on 2d Ave(Kabin, Frank's, and Lit Lounge), they aren't serving underage high school and college students --because SinSin's environment is too "scary" according to the minors. PLEASE CLOSE THIS PLACE DOWN!Flag

Name: Monty Stilson on Jul 14, 2010Comments: I am totally opposed to the transfer of the liquor license for Sin Sin / Leopard Lounge. I've reside on this block for 17 years. Our once quiet neighborhood and clean street was a factor in deciding to raise our child in the city. I now wish we lived elsewhere. Our car, among others, has been vandalized and was costly to repair. During my sleepless nights I have witnessed out my window intense fighting and screaming on several occasions, drug deals, more frequent now thanks to a enterprising, young neighbor. I have seen many men urinating on the the trees and in doorways and by the smell in the morning it is clear I only witnessed a fraction of this disgusting act. I have heard first hand of a Mother, while locking up her bike, forced to the ground and intimidated. I called 311 (yet again) for observing a man using his pelvis to pin a noncompliant girl to the back of a car then to a stairwell where she was able to escape. All this is in addition to the many sleepless nights we have endured because of loud patrons that spend their time outside their car with the over amped stereos blasting. Fights are far to common and I fear that gun shots may soon follow. I would be very afraid to live on the ground floor (as I know my friends with children do) for fear of stray bullets. Sin Sin alone is responsible for destroying our block and making it an unsafe place for children and adults and I adamantly oppose any approval by the SLA to grant Sin Sin the opportunity to profit more at the expense of the neighborhood. Name: Alissa Bucher on Jul 14, 2010Comments: I live with my family at 210 East 5th Street, down the block from SinSin. We have to pass by the club entrance to get to 2nd avenue to shop and run errands. The crowd outside the entrance in the evenings is often large and loud and can be intimidating. We have two teenaged daughters and they have several times reported that that patrons outside SinSin make offensive comments and leering gestures as they pass by. They complain that they feel anxious vulnerable when a crowd is there. Even if the Sin Sin patrons mean no harm by their partying and rakish behavior, it is nevertheless loud, scary and intimidating to the residents of the block. I advise my daughters to cross the street, even if it is out of their way. The situation is ongoing and unabated and diminishes our use and enjoyment of our street and our neighborhood.Flag

Was personally threatened by a bunch of patrons who got out of Sin Sin 4:00 am and hung around their suv playing music top volume, dancing screaming etc. Its disgusting blight on our residential street.Flag

Name: Joan Winters on Jul 14, 2010Comments: i've been woken countless nights by drunken, screaming and howling patrons of sin sin for years. the establishment attracts an unruly crowd that makes me anxious arriving home late at night. if i lock my bicycle to the public lock in front of sin sin, it gets trashed. i have no problem with bars in the neighborhood in general, but this establishment is unbearable and a stain on this otherwise lovely block .Flag
