Comments: Yes, please keep NYS highways and highway shoulders free of hazards! We have enough other hazards to maneuver as it is.

Comments: I suggest using rumble strips only on major expressways. The secondary roads in NYS are beautiful cycling routes and used by many out-of-state tourists. To essentially "destroy" them with rumble strips with hurt tourism as well.

Comments: As a responsible cyclist I try to ride on the shoulder whenever it is safe to do so but find on rural highways this is often not possible. It is often necessary to ride just inside the white line in order to avoid holes, brush, and crumbling shoulder surfaces. Please keep in mind that our roads are not used exclusively for auto and truck traffic and that injuries sustained while traveling outside a motor vehicle, such as on a bike, can be equally as devastating. Please focus on developing a policy that is beneficial to all users, rather than one with costs clearly outweighing proposed benefits.

Comments: I ride primarily on secondary roads. There is little shoulder room as it is on many of these. Adding these strips will force me to ride in the lane with traffic, which is extremely dangerous as many of these are 2 lane roads with speeds 45+.

Comments: I cycle most everywhere I go. Those "Rumble Strips" are a real problem for me. The shake the bike violetly when you cross them, often causing me to nearly lose control of the bicycle. They are a very definite hazard to the bicyclist. I would like to see them all disapper on the roads bicyclist use. apm

Comments: I agree that roadways designated as bicycle routes need to be free of rumble strips & soft shoulders. As a commuting cyclist & experienced bike tourist these conditions make for very unsafe conditions & affect manueverablility and most of all SAFETY. This would seriously impair a cyclist avoiding TRAFFIC!!
