Comments: Breed Specific Legislation is the result of lawmakers trying to solve a problem that they do not understand. Breeds are not the problem. In fact, dogs are not the problem. Irresponsible owners who intentionally breed poorly tempered dogs and/or fail to train and manage them appropriately are the problem. Enforce OWNERSHIP.

Comments: In our Puppy Kindergarten, we've had all of the proposed breeds with the exception of Wolf-hybrids. They are among the sweetest dogs we've had in class. It's the OWNERS who need to be educated to properly socialize their dogs. We even have Pit Bulls and Rottweilers in our Therapy Dog group! These dogs go to hospitals, nursing homes, and schools.

Comments: How Dare you attempt to decide what dog breeds are unworthy to live What will it be next, Perhaps Jews or Catholics or gays will be removed from your state or murdered. Perhaps You decided to be the Hitlers of the dog world That is the most indecent , arrogant & cruel, injustice I have ever heard. Judging dogs because of their breed is complete & total discrimination. Whats next, poodles & dachshunds because they bite too, or the neighbors cat, or the birds in the air because they pooped on your new car! I don't think so! PitBulls & the other dogs have been loyal family pets for centuries, many Rotwillers are rescue dogs & save more lives than you & your dictatorship will ever do. Obviously in your state, people need more protection than their dogs can give them, they need protection from their so called law makers. Those, who never bother to search for the truth, but make false assumptions because of a few incidents. This is an insane attempt to take away the rights of citizens & must be stopped now!

Comments: Mr. Lesch must be unaware that the AVMA, the CDC, the ASPCA, the AKC, and the HSUS all state that breed does not determine whether a dog will be dangerous. This proposed legislation is pandering to hysteria without having any basis in scientific fact.

Comments: Responsible ownership of ANYthing, be it a living creature or a weapon is what this world needs - not ban-happy individuals - bans waste tax dollars and inflict further mass hysteria, they do NOTHING to protect the people of items/creatures that are banned. It isn't the law abiding citizen that one needs to fear - it's those who won't adhere anyways, ban or not.

Comments: Listen to reason, listen to the CDC, AKC, UKC and established veterinary organizations who are against Breed Specific Legislation. Behavior of dogs are reflective of their training, stricter control on who owns working breed dogs is a better law than banning. Criminals and the irresponisble will not recognise the law, it is their very nature to do otherwise, they will continue to breed these dogs and use them for illicit purposes. This potential law will only affect responsible owners. By enacting this law you will effectively concentrate the population of dangerous dogs in the region by eliminating the good ones, making the situation worse. Deal with the criminals DIRECTLY, maybe then you will see a reduction in crime.

Comments: How many dog attacks have happened that we do not know about Is it because they were not "PITBULL TYPE" dogs. The photo of the girl they used on the news was attacked by the mom thought were cocker spaniels. But lets ban the breed not the hunuck that bred the dog and then sold it to make a quick buck to another idiot that wants to make a name for themselves. If they want to make a difference have training and socialization classes free for the people that have these dogs. Training class are expensive and alot of people that own these breeds are in the lower-class bracet. I, myself, is a resonsible owner and live on the North side of MInneapolis.

Comments: if you do not have the resources to enforce the current animal control laws (which you obviously don't, or this bill would not be on the table) you certainly DONT have the manpower to enforce this. Stop devalueing the voter right to property as defined in the constitution with this crap. The first face trasplant was to a woman bitten by a labrador retreiver in france. ANY dog can be "dangerous". A better move would be to stiffen existing laws, and hold the OWNERS responsible for damages caused, which is where the true responsibility lies. Lets face it, the only people who would abide by this law are the responsible ones, the criminals wouldn't care about it, and would still have the dogs, but unregistered, unvaccinated, poorly socialized and more dangerous than before. Also, the Ohio supreme court has deemed similar laws unconstitutional, and you are setting yourself up for legal failure.

Comments: the majority of annual dog bites are from "family-friendly" breeds like shephards & retrievers -- why not just try to ban canines altogether, and see how much support you get from US citizens. Why not spend money on educating & supporting responsible owners and prosecuting irresponsible ones

Comments: Banning these breeds is not the answer to "dangerous breeds." It's the irresponsible owners who need to be held accountable for the behavior of their dogs. Will the people who will be enforcing this law be able to correctly idenitfy these breeds, let alone a mix of one of them Many people cannot identify particular dog breeds. I have a pitbull and she's been mistaken for a boxer and a rottweiler. This law and ones like them are not solution to dog bites or attacks. Hold the owners accountable!

Comments: This man should consult professional animal behaviorists before he proposes a law that is totally illogical. If you propose a law that outlaws breeds and include in that list a DESCRIPTION instead of a breed, you are not qualified to write laws. Mr Lesch needs to find somebody who understands our legal system to read Toledo vs. Tellings to him using baby words so he can understand
