Name: Anonymous on Jan 19, 2013Comments: Strict gun control laws, will not take guns away from those who abuse them. They will still obtain guns through illegal methods. This will only hurt people who use guns for recreation (hunting, skeet/trap, etc) and those who own guns for self-defense. ASG should not get involved with things involving partisanship. It is wrong for them to do so. Northwestern should not be politically biased in any way, and this will really hurt our reputation as a university.Flag

Name: Nick Palumbo on Jan 20, 2013Comments: When I read this the first time, I thought it was a joke. Why is ASG even discussing something like this? Not only is it extremely inappropriate, there's no way you guys don't have better things to do when you're supposed to be "maximizing my Northwestern experience." Furthermore, you do not hold political office. You were not elected as a result of your political beliefs, and have no right to speak as the voice of the students at NU. I've been reading your handbook, and I've found a few sections that I would like to remind you of. "Together, we hope to further expand our community; we will continue to develop deeper relationships with the administration and ramp up collaboration with other student organizations on campus. As a united front, we will leverage the vast pool of resources and passions that exists at Northwestern to move our community forward" This will not be achieved is ASG starts going out of its way to picks sides on decisive political issues. It is your job to improve the experiences of students here at Northwestern, not to exploit your authority to pick sides on partisan issues.Flag

Name: Robert Parrillo on Jan 20, 2013Comments: ASG is continuing the longstanding tradition of left wing college students imposing their dogma on the rest of campus. Although endorsing Obama’s gun control plan would have no impact on anything at a superficial level, as Northwestern is predominantly left wing, allowing ASG’s politics to influence their decision making may unfairly affect funding of political and even non-political organizations on campus.Flag
