Name: Carol Hayward-Peel on Jun 15, 2010Comments: I am opposing this move on the grounds that this is greenbelt land and no exceptional educational need has been identified and therefore greenebelt land should not be used for the purpose of developmentFlag

Name: Suzanne Bentley on Jun 15, 2010Comments: We, the undersigned, urge East Herts District Council to REFUSE planning permission for the application to relocate two schools to Whittington Way, for which no exceptional justification has been provided, and which would lead to irreversible loss of undeveloped Green Belt land.Flag

Name: Alastair Cameron on Jun 15, 2010Comments: I am opposed to this joint plan as it will negatively impact on congestion in the area, reduces healthy school competition in the town and does not cater for the expanding placement requirements for the future. A new school in addition to the existing sites is a better option.Flag

Name: Mrs. Bernadette Gould on Jun 15, 2010Comments: I think that it would be a HUGE mistake to build such a huge school in the proposed site. Green belt land MUST be protected. The congestion that would ensue would be dreadful in such a key area. People trying to get to Bishop's Stortford town and to Sawbridgeworth. An unspeakable option in my opinionFlag

Name: Alison Thomson on Jun 15, 2010Comments: I do not feel that all avenues open have been thoroughly investigated and that moving to the Green Belt site off Whittington Way has not been clearly thought through with regard to the increased traffic to the Thorley area which is not able to deal with it's current traffic at peak times.Flag

Name: Paul Wilson on Jun 16, 2010Comments: I object on the grounds of Limited infrastructure in terms of road congestion and limited bus servicing and non existent rail links Aircraft noise levels will be very loud to the extent that they may exceed suggested limits for school sites Reuse of existing school sites (presumably housing) will further congest Bishops Stortford when it is already struggling with traffic and other infrastructure demands from the development of Thorely and Bishops ParkFlag

Name: Frances Adams on Jun 16, 2010Comments: Main concerns are, traffic chaos, it is bad enough already. Not near public transport hubs, such as bus station and trains. On green belt. There are also education issues such as loss of single sex education and a very large school.Flag

Name: Stephen Akrill on Jun 16, 2010Comments: 1. This is greenbelt land 2. The students are already catered for in the Bishops Stortford & Sawbridgeworth consortium area 3. Selling off existing land for housing would artificially concentrate more population into BS which is already overcrowded 4. Traffic problems on the south side of BS would be increased as traffic leaving the site will inevitably be funnelled to the southFlag

Name: Myles Hamilton on Jun 16, 2010Comments: There is no infrastructure for a school in the area and this will lead to a greater demand for private transport, surely against all sustainability and Agenda 21 policies of national, regional and local government. There is no proven educational need for this wanton destruction of a greenfield site and once again the ignorance of the importance of greenfield sites in this area leaves me astounded.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 16, 2010Comments: Using Green belt land to build an enormous school is not what the parents of Bishop's Stortford want for their children as it is not in the educational interests of the children. The two schools are highly valued in the town for what they are (and where they are) now. Whilst there are other viable options (and there are) then these should be explored further before the town is committed to losing green belt land, increased travel problems and poorer standards of education for our youngstersFlag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 16, 2010Comments: The town desperately needs a further school - what is wrong with the site already identified? The proposed new school on the green belt land will still need all children on the Bishops Park/Bishops Gate estates to be bussed in, whereas the original site could be walked to. Listen to the people who live here!Flag

Name: James Dyke on Jun 16, 2010Comments: I strongly oppose this development as I feel it to be entirely unnecessary. The need for secondary education places in the area can be easily meet by slightly increasing the intake of existing schools on their existing sites. This proposed huge school will suck resources away from existing successful schools.Flag

Name: Denise Vine on Jun 16, 2010Comments: The whole idea of having so many people on one site is ridiculous. Travelling to and from work at that time of morning would be a nightmare due to the huge amount of traffic converging on one area. Bishops Stortford needs another co-ed school, not two even bigger single sex schools.Flag

Name: Ian Penson on Jun 16, 2010Comments: I believe there are powerful arguments against the proposed relocation to Whittington Way and no exceptional justification for sacrificing Green Belt protection. By contrast there are equally powerful arguments in favour of setting up a new school at Hadham Road on the site which is owned by the County Council and has been reserved for that purpose for many years.Flag

Name: E. I. Banister on Jun 16, 2010Comments: This development will put a tremendous strain on the local roads at times when they are already busy. The number of houses on the old school sites may only add to the council coffers through council tax if they are all sold. If flats are proposed for the sites do we need any more in the town. The ones there already are being sold to London councils, etc because there are not enouygh private buyers.Flag

Name: Robert Drewett on Jun 16, 2010Comments: I am opposed to this move because of the increased congestion around the proposed housing estates and the unnecessary loss of green belt land around Bishop's Stortford.Flag

Name: Debra Claridge on Jun 17, 2010Comments: I strongly disagree with merging the two schools, The green belt area should not be built on and the congestion of traffic when I try to get out of thorley in the morning and back in again in the afternoon would be horrendous, apart from the pollution build up in a small area.Flag

Name: Michelle Crowe on Jun 17, 2010Comments: Obviously a case of someone scratching someone else's back here - and certainly not in the interest of our children's future and their education! OR even the environment or the infrastructure of the town!!!! It's about time some people listened to what PARENTS and CHILDREN want in this area NOT what these developers and councillors think they can gain from it all financially!!! Let's just hold onto some history and tradtion here Stortford and it's surrounding towns and villages should be proud of the standard of education that is offered in this county - no wonder this country has no legacy or patriotism - STOP MESSING WITH OUR KID'S FUTURE!!!!Flag

Name: Mrs Carol Coombe on Jun 17, 2010Comments: I feel building on houses on the sites will bring in more people to actually need an extra school not two pushed into one, also the upheaval and inpack on an already nightmare road would be travisty to all concerned.Flag

Name: Rob Crewe on Jun 17, 2010Comments: The schools in the Stortford area already offer an exceptional range of educational options which a larger school ON THE SURFACE could offer, however consolodation of the two smaller schools would mean contraction of some subjects (staff lay off) and actually LESS student choice in some regards. Local area traffic would become impossible, local infrastructure cannot cope without SIGNIFICANT investement - at cost to whom? East Herts residents? The vast majority who are against this proposed move. A case where 'larger' provides de-personalisation not increased choice or quality, and simply isn't needed in the area. Other options are not being considered.Flag
