Maine has operated under "designated agency" for about 8 years. The result has been the closing of virtually every exclusive buyer agency, the closure of smaller agencies, the growth of mega agencies, and the dumbing down of real estate licensee's understanding of agency law. Real estate agents, who have a natural tendency toward unethical professional behavior, have been given a "license to steal" by the State of Maine. And they have! The big losers, Maine's real estate consumers. Don't do the same thing to Massachusetts consumers!Flag

Dual agency is not allowed by law in England where I live. I was brought up in Massachusetts and my family still live there. I believe there are many more implications, especially since Realtors deal with housing. I hope the Mass. legislature will take all of these into account and make the practice illegal as MPs have done in the English Parliament.Flag
