Comments: These proposed laws do nothing but make criminals out of law-abiding citizens. We need to stop these proposals from becoming reality.

Comments: Dear Senators, There are a lot of rumors going around concerning what exactly is being negotiated for future and further restrictions to firearms ownership in New York State. The one that concerns me most is the alleged threat of the use of a "message of necessity" to circumvent the normal three day waiting period before voting. If the rumors about specific proposals are true, this legislation could cause a great deal of financial hardship to your constituents or, worse, turn heretofore law-abiding citizens in to overnight felons because they own something that was perfectly legal yesterday. I understand that the original focus of further restrictions was aimed, principally, at the so called "assault weapons". And, while I do not agree with it, I understand that some lawmakers feel that this can be undertaken with relative impunity since owners of these firearms are a minority of overall firearms owners. But that original focus, the revamped "assault weapons ban", seems to have become greatly expanded - now encompassing such issues as online or mail order purchases of ammunition, NICS checks for the retail purchase of a box of deer slugs, changes to issuance and expiration of pistol permits, limitation of magazine capacities to 7 rounds of ammo (a number not possible to meet in the case of many firearms as no such magazines exist). These broad proposals will not affect just a small minority of gun owners in your districts - they will affect every single hunter and recreational shooter. To paraphrase what Japanese Naval Marshal General Isoroku Yamamoto is alleged to have said - "I fear all you will do is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." To act behind closed doors without allowing for review and input from your constituents - honestly, Senators, I can think of nothing more underhanded and undemocratic. To do so would be viewed by the majority of New York's gun owners as being akin to the underhanded sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. And they will not forget. John Campanella

Comments: The proposed bill is clearly not fair to the law abiding firearm owners in this state. There many of us who have spent our hard earned money to buy goods that you are currently trying to legislate into extiction. I am not an owner of an assault rifle but do own a couple of handguns that I use for recreation you are trying to take away. It's not fair to punish non criminal voters for what criminals are doing. Do you think these changes are really gonna have any bearing on what criminals are gonna do?

Comments: I do not recognize a LAW that was signed behind closed DOORS with NO Public Vote on the MATTER. You have Taken Common Sense and thrown it out the Window! A 7 round Mag is Not Common Sense as who heard of a 7 Round Mag compared to 10 Round Mag in How many Pistols? This Vote should have been about Mental Health and Safety of Locking up Weapons and Selling to a Known Felon! Instead the State has taken up Arms Against it's Citizens Right According to the 2nd Amendment and is Acting Like Royalty and Punishing the Masses instead of an Individual who Commited the Crime!!!

Comments: We cannot as law abiding citizen stand to be treated as criminals. This current legislation is going to turn many owners of "assault" weapons and magazines into criminals. This is not fair or just, but a knee jerk reaction to an emotional situation!

Comments: I fought for this country and would lay down my life to defend it as a Patriot! I am properly trained on the use of firearms and take every safety precaution serious. I obtained the weapons i own legally and will be damned if I can't use them as a avidly active sportsman. These laws will not stop the wrong hands gaining access and is a falasy to believe that criminals will not obtain another method of inflicting harm on others. Guns don't kill people, people kill people! If you don't like them then don't buy them. I don't like cigarettes which kill people everyday so I don't smoke. This law is BS
