“When the white man came to Africa he was holding a Bible in one hand and asked us to close our eyes and pray. When we opened our eyes after the prayer his other hand was holding a gun and all our land was gone.” JOMO KENYATTA President of Kenya 1963-1978
President Bush's creation of Africom on February 6, 2007 is a blatant plan to; usurp the sovereignty of Africa in order to control its natural resources. Africom, therefore, is the merging of The State Department [Hillary Clinton] and The Department of Defense [Robert Gates], with USAID, combined as a unified combatant command for the continent of Africa.
Missions range from anti-terrorism programs in the Horn of Africa to maritime security initiatives and military-to-military training exercises in numerous countries.

This militarization of U.S. - African Relations was confirmed by Congress in February 2008 without the knowledge of the American people, who are the taxpayers funding this war against Africa! The US government has invested more than $500 million in Africom itself. The command had a budget of $50 million in 2007. This rose to $75.5 million last year.
This year, Africom has applied for $392 million. The United States attempt to secure Africa's natural resources by force has impelled the African Union, and its citizens, to reject Africom unto the African continent since 2007. Africans will be much more comfortable dealing with American diplomats, USAID and Peace Corps volunteers rather than the U.S. Marines. Africans are nervously concerned that AFRICOM will sanction the militarization of diplomacy and severely undermine multilateralism on the continent.
Yes, colonialism once again is rearing its ugly head. Yes, there is hope! This petition was created against Africom. Any American citizen that can disagree with the existence of Africom will have an opportunity to take action by signing this petition!
The goal of this petition is to gather ONE MILLION signatures for both President Obama to take notice and to eliminate Africom completely; and for Congressional leaders to take notice that Africom’s funding will not come from tax dollars and to discontinue funding Africom at the expense of taxpayers!
