I respectfully ask the LSC to postpone its decision on how to solve Ogden's overcrowding problem until November 2016, so that an expert analysis of the problem can be conducted and presented for public consideration and comment.
Our task force is asking for one thing now: time to make the right decision. There are a lot of good proposals. Let us, the parents of Ogden, have an active role in the process.
We want to help.
We want the time to help.

It is wise and prudent to do a thorough and qualified assessment of all the facts before moving forward on the decision on how to address this issue. If anything, this process has uncovered that the initial perceptions were not entirely accurate and more due diligence needs to be performed.

Are we really optimally served by quickly espousing a solution, that has not been thoroughly vetted for it's likely profound and lasting impact on the education, upbringing and economic status of the neighborhood and it's people?

Something as drastic as absorbing another school, and extending our borders should not be a decision made swiftly. That being said I also cannot believe that absorbing another school would be logistically easier than redrawing a map. Let's give Jenner more area.

My task force is in favor of a one year postponement to study alternative solutions to the Ogden overcrowding problem. Your response to this petition does NOT mean that you are FOR or AGAINST MERGER, but simply that you need more time to consider all proposals and make a well-informed decision about the future of our school.

There are many great proposals and options for addressing the needs of the population. I see the current proposal as a delay in reaching the capacity desired by the community. Over population will occur with that proposal as exists today with the new Ogden school. More action is needed with just meeting the demand for families wanting to move downtown.

I support Nisha and her team. One year trial period will give time both to improve the current solution or come up with alternate one.
