This petition is to determine if we should start a Charter Amendment Petition for the City of Laredo to establish by charter that 1000 feet should be the distance that a TABC License be granted to a establishment selling alcohol for on premise consumption from a Public or Private School.

A charter amendment to be voted by the voters requires 5% of the city's registered voters.  That would be about 5,250 petitioners for the City Secretary  to certify that an election be held with a majority vote making it a part of the Laredo Charter.

If 2,100 individuals sign this petition it would indicate that an effort by Citizens for Better Neighborhoods would utilize www.4petition.com to start this.  A copy of the charter amendment can be found at that site for your review.

Please join us is signing this petition to get the ball rolling.  Also visit our other petition regarding the sale of the Laredo Civic Center which we are against.  We want to retain that facility as a venue for smaller concert and other entertainment events.
