Name: Diana Hawdon on May 9, 2011Comments: Closure of this vital District line service would have an important effect on my quality of life. I use it almost daily and as I am not a car owner it provides an extremely useful and important form of transport. I think it is essential for the local community as well as the thousands of Olympia exhibition users that it continues to opporate.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 9, 2011Comments: the tube is a vital part of Olympia's infrastructure and one of the reasons I chose to come and live here over 20 years ago and still live here. There has been no consultation over this proposed closure and I am completely unaware as to the reason for it. I would have thought that London was trying to extend its public transport offering, not contract it.Flag

Name: Pip Docherty on May 9, 2011Comments: This is a terrible idea. Only 3 trains an hour run as it is, how is it an inconvenience keeping this line open? Or another solution, extend the line. Instead of stopping it at High St Kensington, continue the train on that way people waiting in Earls court can join the train.Flag

Name: Beverley Donald on May 9, 2011Comments: I have lived at Olympia for 30 yrs i use this train every day to get to work. I can remember when we only had the trains running when shows were on, but it was so busy they kept it open till 11pm. I use this line to work and to my hospital appointments shopping etc. Why should this service be stopped, upsetting our friendly community. Ive got lots of friend who have paid alot of money to live round this area and from Olympia you can get to anywhere from that station. My Grandfather watched the wounded soldiers coming home from France in WW11 in the 40`s from Olympia. This Station is the Heart of the community. And you can not get rid of the Olympia service. How can we get to work now.Flag

Name: Penelope Collins on May 9, 2011Comments: I am outraged at the news which has reached me only tonight about the proposed closure of the Olympia service in just two weeks' time. I cannot understand how you can justify closing this station. And it is absolutely wrong that there has been no communication with us, the residents when we shall be severly affected. I have lived here since March 1986 and even in the early days there was a 15 minute service during Exhibition days. The closure will severely affect those of us living here, our lifestyles will be adversly affected and no small inconvenience resulting from the closure. People who have bought properties here in the past 10 years will have done so in part due to access to the tube - you will be decreasing their property value. Local businesses, some of which are large companies, and certainly small independent business will suffer, shops will lose custom. Additionally, those trying to attend the many exhibitions at Olympia will be inconvenienced.Flag

Name: Daniel Graham on May 9, 2011Comments: This service provides an invaluable route to city and west end workers as well as providing a route to the ever growing Olympia building which holds many trade fairs and cultural shows bringing tourism to London. To close it would be a disgrace, and I don't understand why the hard working people of w14 have to suffer even though we pay the same as any other zone 2 user!!!Flag

Name: Graeme Grant on May 9, 2011Comments: I have been resident in this area for 17 years and use Kensington Olympia tube on a daily basis. It was about a decade ago that the tube started operating at regular intervals throughout the day, and since then more businesses have opened in the area and the general character of the nieghbourhood has improved. Why are TLF being allowed to wind back the clock without any consultation with the local community or the council? Furthermore, news of the closure was buried on TFL's website under a news item entitled `Timetable Changes' ...Flag

Name: Joanna Grant Peterkin on May 10, 2011Comments: This line is a key transport link for a large number of people and increasingly important with the improved and expanding Overground Line. Please re-consider your decision to close this tube line. It affects many local businesses and services as well as individual residents. The station is in the process of being modernised - it is ironic that this coincides with a plan to close such a vital part of the transport structure at Olympia. Another option would be to reduce further the number of trains - it has already gone down from 4 an hour to 3 an hour. If there have to be cuts, please consider 2 an hour rather than closure.Flag

Name: Karen Lane on May 10, 2011Comments: I use the Kensington Olympia service regularly and live in the immediate vicinity. It will be very disruptive to lose this service. It is not at all convenient to walk to the nearest District Line station and the proposal to replace it with an overground service will not be at all helpful for people with mobility problems who would not be able to easily get across to the platform for trains to West Kensington. I am particularly appalled that this change is being brought it with little announcement and no consultation.Flag

Name: Simon Rodway on May 10, 2011Comments: We have lived here for 30 years. In 1980 Olympia was quite a run down area, due in part to the local tube service being so sporadic - only serving major exhibitions. This is what TfL wants us to return to. Also, surely London desperately needs as many interchanges between over ground and under ground as possible. Wake up TfL!Flag

Name: C.J. Lazaretti on May 10, 2011Comments: Using the Olympia line every day to go to work, I can see how the near-empty carriages at non-peak times may suggest there is little demand for it, but suspending the line is the wrong way to look at it. With the number of Tube users rising dramatically every year, we need *more* lines and stations, not fewer. In fact, I see no reason the Olympia line shouldn't be extented to Edgeware Road, since it already goes as far as High Street Kensington.Flag
