| 251 | Adam Walton | Wrexham's music scene is one of the most vibrant and interesting in the whole of Wales and stands as a fine testament to the initiative and creativity of its youth.
This proposed restriction on one of the town's most important music venues is an unfortunate testament to the short-sightedness and hypocrisy of the town council.
And all of this in the month that a number of Wrexham's finest musicians -- all of whom have cut their teeth at the Old Swan -- go to play the world's most famous music festival.
Utter, utter idiocy and incompetence. |

Laura-Leigh Dickenson | The Old Swan is the Heart of Wrexham's music scene. It loves music and our local musicians in a way that other local venues never could. Its eclectic, unique and well established. A necessary step for bands in their long and barely supported careers. Simply essential to the towns cultural diversity.
maffew | The Old Swan's live music output is one of Wrexhams most important assets and it would be an incredible shame to lose such a well loved venue.

Karen Corbett | This is disgusting. Places offering decent music and an environment with friendly, real people (as opposed to the lairy, trouble making beer boys); are few and far between. The Old Swan is one of the few places I, and a large group of friends enjoy going in Wrexham. The reason for this is the live bands, dJ's and eclectic offering of music which you cannot find anywhere else in Wrexham. Surely Wrexham County Council should be embracing what the Old Swan has to offer instead of making uneducated decisions. If this little diamond in the rough is taken away from us, then all Wrexham will have to offer is typical mainstream clubs and pubs which have no value and attract more trouble due to this fact because the only reason people go there is to get drunk, not appreciate good music and local talent. This definitely needs an educated rethink!!!
Maurice | 'Culture, Art and Music' are surely things we all enjoy and The Old Swan, as the areas 'best venue' for local talent deserves to be supported and cherished by the whole of our local community.....long live the swan.
Sean Taylor |
Ben Watts | i think its a sad thing that someone would want to end something as important as the old swan live nights.
Anonymous | Please please keep the outdoor bands going at the old swan. It is part of Wrexham's culture, and there is nowhere else like it to go to. I'm sure it was there before some of the neighbours, and they must have known they were moving next to a long established pub. This type of venure does not attract trouble makers and it is really important to keep it going.
Nick Roe | This can't happen! Not only is it an amazing venue to play at, but it's doing so much for the music scene, not just in Wrexham, but everywhere else too!

Anonymous | keep this live venue going.
tim edwards | Save the Swan! Never has there been a decent place for alternative music since the Kings Arms closed, but the Swan has stayed true to its roots and put on some great shows. There are way too many wines bars cropping up all over town - that is where the anti social behavour is, hence the CCTV, not at the Swan.
Anonymous | great venue - don't loose it please - for the sake of future music lovers
dave salisbury |
Jon | This is pathetic! The old swan is probably the only really decent place to have a chilled drink and listen to a band with your mates and just enjoy! I've been going to the swan for about 6-7 years and never seen anything that could be remotely discribed as "anti-social behaviour" and i have a fair grasp of what that covers as i have taken the licensee exam myself! wrexham county council, Do us all a favour and start using your brains instead of conforming to the goverment/P.C mind control !
Laura |
wyn Rimmer | as someone who has worked in the live music industry for a number of years I myself choose to visit the old swan to enjoy the bands that play there may i say this place is run exceptionally well I have never witnessed any trouble or breech of licencing THE COUNCIL HAVE GOT THIS WRONG AND NEED TO WAKE UP AND DO THEIR JOB AND SERVE AND SUPPORT THE NEEDS OF LOCAL PEOPLE.
Jimi Kehlenbeck |
Daniel Stokes | This is one of the best pubs for live music it would be a shame to lose it.
dave jones | as a wrexham musician i believe it would be a crime to restrict the artistic outputs of so many inthusiastic youngsters, particuly in this town that has somewhat limited provisions for the arts. if we are ever to grow as a town or city we need to cater for all intrests and incourage diversity not stiffle it, the swan is key in the music scene of the town and atracts the many who find no intrest in the multitude of multi coulerd, cheep and chearful wine bars that wrexham offers as "entertainment"
matt jones | this is literally the only hope for good decent hopeful music in this town otherwise the scabby little drunk chavites have finally got the last say and all our hardwork and talent has took a fatal blow. dont let it happen. keep munting
Jordan Moth |
Anonymous | This is the only pub in wrexham that offers a wide range of different music styles. All the other places play chart and cheesy happy hardcore dance music (well, most do). Wrexham has many talented bands and DJs that play at the swan! This will be a dark time for wrexham's 'non-mainstream' music lovers if this be the end! Then it really will be "welcome to hicks vill..." The only saving grace will be the few nights at Central.
