After 40 years in residence at the Bennington Center for the Arts, Oldcastle Theater company was evicted at the end of their 2011 Season. Currently a petition is circulating in Bennington Vermont to get the company onto the town ballot for an appropriate bill that would help OLDCASTLE THEATER to find a new theater space in downtown Bennington. As a vital and important part of the arts community and a mainstay of Bennington's cultural life, we believe that it is crucial for the governing body of Bennington Vermont to do everything in its power to back the relocation of the OLDCASTLE THEATER from the Bennington Center for the Arts to the downtown area. A revitalized theater in a downtown location will bring in tourists, revenue and artists from all over the east coast and help enhance the quality of life in the area.
