On September 17th Oklahoma County Clerk Carolynn Caudill was arrested after a concerned citizen followed her and reported her driving drunk. After smashing into one parked car and weaving over a several mile course, Nichols Hills Police caught her after she crashed her car into the front yard of a home. Caudill needs to be removed from public office by a petition of Oklahoma County registered voters. Oklahoma law states that a petition of 1% of the voters that elected the elected official in the previous election for that office may petition the Attorney Generals Office of Oklahoma to have an elected official removed from office. Title 51, Chapter 3 of the state statutes allows for the removal of county officers for official misconduct. That includes “intoxication in any public place within the state produced by strong drink voluntarily taken.” Two years prior Caudill had left the scene of an accident and hid her car in her garage despite witnesses following her to her home and calling the police. She refused to speak to police so they could not determine if she was under the influence of alcohol at the time. She pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of an accident and received unsupervised probation. Oklahoma County Clerk Carolynn Caudill s a member of a powerful group of public officials that control Oklahoma County for special interests. Her removal from office for public intoxication and drunk driving will send a powerful message.
