Susan Halfen | The swimmers should at least be able to finish out their swimming where they started!
JP | don't take away the swimming program like this....phase it out so the current swimmers can finish their swimming program at Ohio U. Football is not only sport in this world - share the funds...
Rebecca Boarman |
Paschall, Pat |
Gina Donovan | This is a devastating thing for the young adults affected, and I hope they reconsider this decision.
| 2207 | Joseph Finnan | An institution of higher education should not become an opportunist trying to cash in on football dollars at the expense of other sports. There should be a wide breadth of sports that should never be compromised by blatant pandering to football because it generates revenue.
Swimming is an olympic sport and should be available to be pursued at the college level. Colleges should pride themselves on being able to offer the program, not try to finds ways to maximize income through sporting programs by eliminating it.
This maneuver is shameful and speaks to the character of the university. |

Anonymous | these sports are as valuable and respected as football when did our choices become so narrow ,not everyone enjoys contact sports

Sue Andrews | The football program is big enough already. Also it is an agressive sport that could cause a lot of injuries. Why can't we keep swimming and diving which is an olympic sport and a much better character builder than bashing each other on a football field.
Anonymous | Keep swimming alive! It provides a sport for students who are not in the mainstream sports of basketball or Football in high school to have a chance to continue their sports careers in college.
Terry Steel |
Michele Louden | The sport of swimming is just as important as football, basketball and baseball. These athletes practice with the same enthusiasm as any other athlete. Why would you want to single out one sport to increase another? Why can't everyone have the opportunity to choose which sport is important to them? Please keep the swimming program!!!
Figurelle Family | The sport of swimming is vital in many ways. It promotes team work, a healthly lifestyle, and a sense of individual accomplishment. Swimming has helped many stay focused, not only in life but in academics as well. The commitment and disipline that goes with the sport is amazing and contributes to the swimmers overall success.

Steve and Katie Poitinger | We are shocked and saddened at the decision of OU admistrators to cut track and field. As proud OU grads of the class of 78, we are disturbed by this trend. Sadly, we will rethink our annual giving to OU.
mary | Bad dedcision for swimmers and lacrosse players. Too bad you could not think of other ways to save money. Many student atheletes will not consider your college because of this.

Eric Snook | After being involved in swimming for 22 years I have seen and personally experienced the valuable lessons that a swimming program can provide for a persons future. To cut the program and add millions to a football program is completely unacceptable.
Audrey Rauterkus | Please reconsider. You have a proud tradition. This is good for the University

Anonymous | PLEASE SAVE OUR SWIMMERS!!!!
Richard M. Hays, Jr | These proposed sports cuts are severing a vital part of personal student growth. All sports programs foster teamwork, develop the capacity for interaction with a gamut of individuals, plus they help individuals become good citizens. They gain a concept about good competition, sportsmanship, and "playing games well" which benefits them throughout their lives. They must be retained.
| 2246 | Derek | $20 million to the football team? That is practically throwing the money away. When was the last time they won anything? Having a swim team adds diversity to the school.
Ohio, smarten up. |
Annette Fimple | Swimming is as much a sport as football. University's should fund all sports.
Tom Ferrigno |
A Beatty McDonald |
Chris Downey | The cutting of OU's women's lacrosse, men's swimming and diving, and men's track and field teams is a travesty, and only illustrates the incompetence of the athletic department, and the total disregard for students and alumni alike by the McDavis administration.
