2153 Brian EmerichSchool administrations and boards need to start recognizing that programs need to be evaluated based on their worth to the student/athletes, not on the amount of dollars they bring into the school.

2158 Denise MontgomeryI am opposed to the elimination of these programs.
2159 Alex Richardson, BS '95While I'm not fully informed as to why these sports are being eliminated, I would presume that it's not due to a lack of interest and participation from those student athletes who compete in the above mentioned sports. As long as we're fielding teams, then let's find a way to reinstate these sports.
2160 Andy AmyotPlease re-instate these sports. There is no reason OU is unable to fund these sports, it has nothing to do with Title IX compliance. Maybe just pay the football coach a little bit less each year. He is already the highest paid coach in the MAC and he doesnt even have a winning team.

2167 tom boyceLord knows what I would have done without OU Swimming. My life is what it is because of OU Sports. What a sad. day for all of us.

2169 AnonymousI am opposed to cutting these sports and especially mens swimming. Title IX if a joke and its only eliminating more and more kids from participating. Find a way to keep these sports.

2174 Marianne PlucienikThese students when to Ohio U for a great education but also to particiapte in the sport that they love. To take it away with no notice and no way to complete their career is just wrong.
2175 Heidi McAuliffeAlternative solutions must be found for this common problem. Cutting sports programs only jeopardizes the student-athlete and the university's long term sustainability. Sports programs are a much needed curriculum event and should be treated as such.

2178 bill meierI strongly urge the University to explore alternative solutions to its proposed cuts in athletics. As an example the suggestion made by the Executive Director of the Swim Coaches association to ADD women's water polo, if indeed Title IX is an issue.
2179 AnonymousMy boss swam at OU and speaks highly of the university. Dropping this sport from the roster does not speak well for the school or its alumni participation in the future.

2189 Charles McCormickThe Ohio U men's swimming situation is yet another chapter in the alarming and irreversible damage being done to men's scholastic sports by the ill concieved and antiquated Title 9 Legislation. Shame on Ohio U and the many that went before and will follow after for not at least exposing to the uniformed public the absurdity of Title 9 requirements as motivation for their decisions. Shame on us for allowing the Federal government to once again squash the rights of the majority for the supposed benefit of a minority. Put affirmative action and No Child Left Behind in the same basket of injustices.
2190 AnonymousMaybe swimming is being phased out because no one gets wacked or shoved or puhsed or hurt...? when will we learn to appreciate strenght, will power and courage, that is peaceful, compeitive and graceful all at the same time?

2198 cathrarine restrepo'higher education' is clearly a misnomer at Ohio State if these decisions are not reversed. These three sports listed provide immeasurably wonderful experiences for a wide range of student athletes. Any school who would drop aquatics and track, not to mention women's lacrosse, is not only short-sited but does not deserve the federal dollars it receives. I will contact my federal representatives and urge them to reduce the federal subsidy if these athletics programs are dropped.
2199 DenisePlease make some arrangements to keep the Men's Swimming and Diving Program.
