Hello all-- This is our creed, our belief, our reason for starting this group. Hopefully the following resolution will be passed by Board of Educations across the nation: WHEREAS America is the land that believes in equality for all especially in the majority (utilitarianism); and WHEREAS Chinese New Year is the main holiday for more than one quarter of the world\'s population; and WHEREAS Several other cultural groups receive days off for holidays that Asians do not celebrate; and WHEREAS This generation of Asian-American is more active than the previous generation. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that we make Chinese New Year an official holiday, allowing students to take a day off to celebrate the holiday. If your school board or county does not allow you to legally take a day off. Skip. Boycott the system. Join the ranks of Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and Malcom X and FIGHT FOR YOUR EQUALITY. This is AMERICA. The land of liberty, justice, and equality.

In 2007 a group of students decided to create an organization to take the day of to celebrate Chinese New Year with their friends and family from abroad after witnessing discrimination and extreme difficulty in meeting with friends and family for the most festive holiday in Asian-American culture.
