Name: Rachael Manuele on Apr 23, 2007Comments: I was always on the fence about this issue until my husband and I moved to Juanita Avenue, located just down the street from the State Park Dunes entrance. In my daily jogs I'd pick up bottles, cans, trash of all kinds, car batteries, and more. It is a true tragedy to see such beautiful land, creek, and our wonderful Pacific ocean fall into the hands of such careless individuals, most of whom do not have ownership of this land since their homes are hours away. Please help us preserve and charish this area.Flag

Name: Duke S. Sterling on Apr 27, 2007Comments: It is a tragedy to see the destruction that the off-highway vehicles do to the protected wildlife at the Oceano Dunes. These vehicles also cross a creek (that deposits directly into the ocean) and drive into the ocean. There are deaths (and countless accidents) that occur every year as a result of this. It needs to be stopped. Duke SterlingFlag

Name: Dagmar Collins on Apr 29, 2007Comments: Recreational use of off-road vehicles should not be permitted on public lands. Not only is it destructive to the immediate area and its inhabitants, but it also contributes to global warming and uses a finite resource for no other reason than to provide yahoo recreation and big corporate profits. Why are our tax dollars being used to promote this type of "recreation"Flag

Name: Joe on May 14, 2007Comments: I DO NOT SUPPORT THE CLOSING OF OCEANODUNES. All taxpayers pay for this land, OHV users pay again at the gate, and this is but a miniscule portion of beach left open for OHV family use. There is plenty of beach for NON OHV use and that part is empty. Why do those offended by this small area not use the majority that has been given them It is not about environmental concerns it is about dollars, much like the Sierra Club, if the money is right they will sell out.Flag

Name: Marion Soltz on May 18, 2007Comments: I suggest a study be initiated at Oceano Dunes Off-Road Vehicle California State Park on the effects of global warming because of the concentrated, uninhibited use of gasoline powered vehicles, unsupervised dumping of raw sewage from motor homes, direct threat to flora and fauna of the region, pollution of the ocean waters by petroleum products and human waste adversely affecting sea life and human life. VEHICLES DO NOT BELONG ON THE BEACH.Flag
