Child restraint safety changes for Trade Me

The petition

Trade Me currently requires sellers to check a declaration box when listing child restraints, this declaration only asks that the seat is under 10 years old, and that it meets one of the three standards accepted in NZ. It does not make people enter at least the month and year of manufactre. Some seats have a life span of only 5 years and a maximum of 10 years. The treatment of the seat in this time does not factor in, and it always from the date of manufacture - NOT purchase. This petition is to push Trade Me to add a required field to car seat auction listings, asking for the date of manufacture (DOM) MM/YYYY. By signing this you are in agreement with the DOM request.
