The NYSC of Mahwah has become too cramped. Close to a quarter of the fitness area has been dedicated to a new UXF Training Zone. As a result, some of the machines that were frequently used have been removed, an additional free weight area is gone, and the remaining equipment has been moved even closer together. It has gotten to the point where the fitness area has become so cramped it increases the possibility of injury and is a nuisance to members. According to The Risk Management Guideline Recommendations from the Fitness Standards Council (http://www.afpafitness.com/about/accreditation/Risk_Management.pdf)  there should be approximately three feet between stations or barbell areas to provide easy access to each work station with adequate clearance of moving parts/weight arms. The current layout has the machines and barbell areas so close together that a person can barely walk between them. Some of the barbell areas are so close together that the barbells are almost touching. There is clearly insufficient clearance between exercise equipment stations. We are proposing that the recently added UXF Training Zone be relocated to another part of the facility to free up space that can be used as an additional free weight area, to bring back the machines that were recently removed, and to create a more open layout with adequate clearance between fitness stations. If you feel like the NYSC of Mahwah is too cramped and you want the UXF Training Zone removed then please sign our petition.
