No to down with the YOI
More arts for the people and more people for the arts...Culture is our progression no as singles but as in a universal whole...so dont stand on your feet and others.. |
| 1607 | trsh | u probably no this patrick groenland..
Gearoid grant has an association with rte and the irish times 4 the last 25 years. Can u guess where he is coming from? I agree with your sentiment. It is very disconcerting that certain people can manipulate an agenda. .I will add my name 2 this petition because |

| 1609 | Anonymous | there are 74 orchestras in the iayo all over ireland none of whom recieve any audition forms or any notification that courses are coming up !If the board is saying they didn't want this amalgamation to happen why is nobody being told about a course that most of them could learn to love like i have??? |

| 1611 | Grainne McFeely | As a member of the NYOI for many years I cherish the experiences I was afforded. There is a need for 2 orchestras. The junior orchestra to allow young musicians to play in a symphony orchestra, often for the first time. The continuity of Gearoid Grant gives them stability. But for older musicians, in the senior orchestra, the variety of conductors is a vital experience, I learnt so much from each and every conductor I played under; En Shao, Eri Klas, Atso Atmila, Andrei Boreyko, Alexander Anissimov to name but a few. More experienced players, both musically and emotionally can have the opportunity to perform those more challenging works;Shostakovitch 7, Mahler 5 and Wagner's Ring are ones that spring to mind.Don't take away such possibilities for the many young musicians of the future! |
| 1612 | teresa reddy | Totally disappointed with the lack of discussion/debate with parents and members considering their large financial and time input throughout the years. |
| 1613 | Sr.Bernadette Sweeney | I am totally opposed to an amalgamation of both orchestras. There is huge potential to develop both orchestras independently by exploring creative ways.
350 pupils are currently involved in preparatory work with a view to forming an orchestra in the future. Already approx.60 pupils are playing in the school orchestra under the extremely gifted Joanna Crooks at St.Agnes' Primary School, Armagh Rd., Crumlin, D.12. |

| 1625 | patriciadurnin | this decision must be reversed for the future of youth music in ireland to prosper as it has in the past 20 years |
| 1626 | Leanne Thompson | I am in the Ulster Youth Orchestra and to hear that some 100 young Irish musicians will be denyed the opportunitty to have their lives enriched by professional music, disturbs me greatly. I sign this petition with great hope that the orchestra will be revived in the future. |

| 1629 | Stephanie Moloney | I am a struggling violinist and believe that the only way for young musicians in Ireland to progress in the competitive music world is to play as much as you can. I think it is a disgrace that the two orchestras have joined! There are so few outlets such as orchestras for young musicians and since the joining of the two the list has become even shorter! i urge everyone reading this to oppose the joining of the two orchestras as there will be simply nothing left for young musicians in Ireland! |

| 1635 | Anonymous | The NYOI needs a feeder group. Government...finance it.....or don't claim the wonderful musical ambassadors of Ireland that eminate from it. You get out of it what you put in to it!! Shame on you all for short cutting an important cultural group. Protect our youth and educate them...its in your own best interests in the end |
