| 1403 | Frank Grimes | There are so many things wrong with this decision that I'm not even going to start. |
| 1404 | Niamh O' Leary | |
| 1405 | Jamie FitzGerald | While it may appear to be another opportunity for bandwaggoneering (if one was ignorant and wished to dismiss the issue because, quite simply, it suited them), such a drastic loss has the same price as any in the arts field - incalculable.
The logic behind the action looks cretinously impaired, so logically, on the assumption that the people pulling the strings behind the pulling of the strings are not idiots with chaff for brains, they must be under some sort of world-ending stress or manipulation that has left them with, undoubtedly in their own words, "no choice" but to go ahead. "No Choice" once again being the Operating Quagmire's carte blanche for what they fear and know to be unacceptable.
An end to this, if you please. We should need to go to war over this childishly simple affair. |

| 1409 | Vivienne Briscoe | Who is this benefiting? Its not the musicians. The decision should be reversed. |
| 1410 | Cranait Fahy | i was shocked at the descision to merge the two orchestras, as a result many musicians of the future will not be given the amazing opportunity that these two orchestras have offered in the past . i am disappointed that such a descision could be made without the consultation of the present members of the orchestras. |

| 1413 | Anonymous | The problem is recruitment, I am a student at DIT conservatory of music. Myself and my friends play at a high level but I only found out I could apply to the orchestra when I was 19, too old for the younger orchestra. |

| 1431 | Patrick FitzGerald | As a founding member and former leader of the original IYO I am truly appalled at this lamentable situation |
| 1432 | Anonymous | As music is such an essential part of a persons development it is a pity to see such a narrow minded view being taken by those who want to amalgamate the orchestras. Like all other stepping stones in the development of the person it is vital that young people play music at their appropriate level and with their peer groups. This is why the orchestras should be kept seperate so that the younger players have time to develope their skills ..
I hope that sense will prevail and that this decision will be reversed. |
| 1433 | helen.m.molony | Talk about one step forward and four steps backwards. This has to be the idea of someone with their head in the ground |
| 1434 | Dorene Groocock | |
| 1435 | David O'Rourke | Expecting such a diverse age group to come together and play as one orchestra is no different to having children play sport against adults. I don't believe there is a shortage of musicians. As director of a youth jazz orchestra in New York our numbers have increased thanks to a more focussed and dedicated recruitment campaign. DO NOT take this opportunity away from young Irish musicians! |
| 1436 | Emma Desmond | |
| 1437 | Roger Lee | The work of the Irish National Youth Orchestra is recognised worldwide. We travelled to Ireland to see their legendary performance of Wagner's "Ring" 5 years ago and I am astaounded that there is now a possibility of so destructive a decision being implemented.

| 1449 | Joanne Walsh | |
| 1450 | andreas mcgrath | Merging the 2 orchestras can only lead to less opportunity for young Irish musicians. The selection bias will favour older players and will serve to disincentivise. A bad idea |
