We are concerned and very interested in New Yok City's grant to fund crossing guards for our schools in Downtown NYC. Assemblyman Silver arranged funding for crossing guards on West Street in the past when the city could not. This is the current situation local families are facing now, it is urgent that children's safety is prioritized which is why we are writing in support for that application.

We are in dire need of just 2 crossing guards within each of our Lower Manhattan schools. Adding crossing guards for several of our local schools has long been an issue throughout New York City and is both a reasonable and important request to ensure and maintain children's safety.

We strongly urge expedited approval as the local residents and families have consistently advocated for more crossing guards and appreciate your consideration and understanding.
