As parents, voters, and concerned residents of Nyack and Valley Cottage, NY, we the undersigned hereby demand that Governor Cuomo and our state legislators demonstrate that they value public education for our children more than giving a $5 billion tax break to New York’s top income earners.
To reverse the effects of the 2011-2012 State Budget they supported, which allows the NYS "millionaires tax” to expire while massively cutting public school funding, we demand they set to work immediately to restore the more than 1.3 billion in public education funds cut statewide (causing the loss of more than 30 teaching positions in Nyack alone); provide appropriate increases in public education funding in future years; and restore the New York State "millionaires tax" to cover these costs.
Seeing 250 names on this list hits home because it shows that my neighbors are just as worried as I am about what these cuts are doing to our kids. My own children feel the absence of those thirty teachers every single day in their empty classrooms. This milestone proves we are not alone in demanding better for our schools.

Seeing one hundred people stand up for our kids in Nyack and Valley Cottage is just overwhelming. I keep thinking about those thirty teaching positions we lost and how your support brings us one step closer to making things right.

Total joke that we are cutting funds for classrooms while helping out the rich. Nyack deserves better.

It is getting harder every year to keep up with the tax burden while the quality of education keeps going down. Enough is enough.

Thirty teaching positions?? That is just insane. The kids are the ones paying the price here.
