Dear Supervisor Day, We are writing to express concern about the proposed used car lot on the West side of La Canada, just North of River Road. This lot is immediately adjacent to the Casa Adobes neighborhood. I am told the Board of Supervisors will consider a rezone of this property at your meeting tomorrow. While we understand that this rezoning may occur, We would urge that the following conditions be considered: * The ingress/egress from the used car lot must be on La Canada and La Canada only. There should be no access from Roller Coaster. I, and a number of my neighbors are very concerned about "test drives" being taken through the neighborhood. This could also impact the Lulu Walker Elementary school on Roller Coaster as well. Our preference would be that only a right hand turn could be made from the lot, forcing traffic onto La Canada, heading south. This would keep the traffic out of our neighborhood. * Secondly, We are concerned about the lights at night that will be required to provide security for this lot. Many of the homes in our neighborhood are on 1/2 to 1 acre lots. Because of this our neighborhood reflects a rural residential development. We would strongly urge you to consider restricting the amount of light pollution that comes from this car lot. Ideally, a used car lot is not an appropriate land use contiguous to a residential area that is rural in nature. However, if this zoning must proceed, We certainly hope you will consider amendments that address the points we have raised here.
