I moved to Nutley NJ because of it's good schools and beautiful parks. In fact, my home is right on Kingsland Park with a beautiful waterfall and a quaint gazebo. But lately, our beautiful parks (mine in particular) house a great many shopping carts. These are randomly thrown into the beautiful brooks and ponds. They lay there forever and become a part of the wildlife since the garbage and sticks and leaves cling to it creating a garbage heap of junk for the Pomarand or White Heron to deliticy perch on. Any Nutley resident knows how high our taxes are. My hope is that some of this money will go towards cleaning up the parks. Get the shopping carts out of there and fine anyone you see throwing one in. There are at least 20 in Kingsland Park at this point (that I can see). The Town of Nutley itself boasts it's parks on their website. "The parks in Nutley are considered the "crown jewel" of the Essex County park systems. "The Township prides itself in maintaining a commendable level of conservation while safeguarding this pristine natural resource from impending and unnecessary sprawl. The latest surveys list the Township as maintaining over 10,000 trees and over 100 acres of recreational land. No home in Nutley is more than one half mile from a park or playground." That sounds lovely. Not true, but lovely if it were. This petition is to put our taxes to work and get our Park's Department to clean up our brooks and ponds. Drag out the shopping carts. Clean up the garbage. And put our garbage pails back so the people can pick up after their dogs and not have to carry it around! Make it our crown jewel again!
