Do you work in the healthcare field Do you have a love one that lives in a nursinghome Do you see the every day stuggles placed apon the staff to carry out their never ending duties . I have been a cna for 6 years now . this is one of the toughest jobs i can think of . I dont see it getting better anytime soon . We need to stick together and demand that laws be passed to better our working conditions and the living conditions of our elderly residents . We need to be given the help nesassary to provide the level of care that they deserve . It is impossible to properly take care of residents when we have unrealistic work assignments . I see people work dangerously short staffed all the time and no body does anything . The department of health comes in for their annual surveys and they just make sure there is enough staff on to not only get the job done ,but actually do it right . and then as soon as the surveyors have their closing meeting it is right back to the way things were . Our licenses our always on the line , but yet it is impossible to keep up with everything when you barely have time to take a lunch break . I am sick of being in the position where I wish i could do more .I know that I am not the only one who feels this way . That is why we have such a nursing shortage . It will only get worse unless someone steps up to plate to make a change . We need to demand laws that will set fair patient to staff ratios . Although we will never beable to prevent mandatory overtime , we could have laws in place that could help prevent it . If facilities had to pay time and a half for anything over 8 hours I bet they would try harder to make sure they had the help . But instead they continue to put their staff and residents in harms way by saving a buck or too . Please help me by signing this petition that simply states that you agree that changes are long overdue and something needs to be done immediatly Please tell friends and coworkers about this petition .
